I have not been as excited as this in a long, long time.
To think that we are going to be taught by some top levelers, is really hard to beleive.
Get something done about that cold mate, certainly do not want you to lose your voice
or something else happening, that may prevent you spilling the beans…
Can not wait for the forum to open as i do know how beneficial they are to marketing..

Hello everyone,
I am excited to start the 30 day challenge, however, I already have a problem (sigh). I signed up for digg and stumbleupon as directed, however, when I tried to install the stumbleupon tool bar, an error message came up and said i needed a windows version of 2000 or better. I only have windows 98. I do not know what to do now.

Last year Dan Raine issued a challenge - he would make $15,000 dollars online in a single month with a budget of just $150.
He Fell $347 short. Because of this he had to wear a pink thong in public… This is him fulfilling that bet. (It’s not pretty…)

Hi All,

Note for Linder: The computer I was using did the same. I used my newer laptop and got an error message.
I found out I can still use the site but not the toolbar. The toolbar is just for ease of use
not use. Hope this helps.

I too am a newbie, but I’m really excited about what I’ve heard so far. I too got an error on the stimbleupon site. To view the tool bar I had to go into tools, internet options, advanced settings, and change to enable 3rd party browser-extensions. Now my tool bar is up…I hope that helps someone else. I too would love to get in a group - how do we hook up??

Is there anywhere that one can actually find out WHAT we are going to do (I know nothing about the previous challenges). I had a look on “stumbleupon” and why does one have to install a toolbar? That sounds suspiciously like it could be a tracking device. Can anyone enlighten me as to why the registration for digg and stumbleupon? I know all about the power of web 2.0 but why these two sites? It looks like I could be stuck there for hours instead of creating products and a website. So Ed and the gang - where can we find out more about what we will need to do?

Firstly I can’t tell you what we are going to do, because like you I am a humble Member so I won’t speculate. I can tell you I have been reading about the ‘websploits’ of one Ed “the legend” Dale for quite a while and have profited a few thousand dollars with very little effort by following his advice. I can also tell you (sorry Ed, maybe soon) that I have yet to pay Ed $1 for any of it.
Stumbleupon & Digg ~ I can guarantee that the toolbar includes tracking and it is all mentioned in the fine print and in the set-up options. You need to make your own judgements on all these things, and I also believe that by the end of The Thirty Day Challenge you will be required to join at least a dozen more such sites and probably register for another dozen to get acces to their Free tools, but now I am speculating.
NOTE: The key you have hit upon though Anne is, you could end up stuck in those and similar sites, I know I do, and it is part of why Web 2.0 works it is in our nature, sometimes you just do read one more story follow one more link.
THE TAKEAWAY: Stay Focused, as Professional online Marketers, we are working….. when we arrive at these sites do just what you came for and leave.
If your tempted to read something bookmark and comeback, if your tempted to read the fine print T & C’s, Privacy Statement etc Bookmark and comeback, if your tempted to click on an Ad Bookmark and comeback…. Guess what happens? you rarely Comeback and you often end up actually completing your objectives ontime….then you can Comeback!

I believe there is a lot of trust and an amazing amount of Goodwill in the Web 2.0 community, how many people buy from websites where there is no physical address, no telephone number and often not so much as an e-Mail address. We are like some of the others as we are looking for a team also. Joh has some experience with Internet Marketing and software. I do not but I can do emails and do some work to help John on this project. We are looking forward to this challenge and with working with/ meeting new people. I am one extremely focused individual and SOO serious about this - hence my misgivings about things that might difuse the said focus. And about the tracking - some of us here in the northern reaches of the E Empire are a bit jumpy these days about all this surveilance you see. Well, I will go and sign up and during the course get in and get out as per instructions. I don’t know if there are any others from the nordic countries on the course for a team (Hej alla!), but a team from the four corners of the globe is fine. I just know time wise (for quick back and forth contact etc.) it is probably easier to be more or less from compatible zones - even if the geographical areas can be quite far flung (like Africa and Europe.) Well, this has my excitement factor pretty high.
If anyone is wondering (looking at you anna), I believe it is optional to install the toolbar, but that allows you to rate and recommend sites that you come upon. So if you had the toolbar installed, and you came across, say, thirtydaychallenge.com, you could rate it and recommend it so that it’s “Rank” goes up on StumbleUpon. Same way with Digg.com, it is a rating and referral site, so you can generate buzz on these sites.
Sure you should read the fine print, but I am pretty sure you won’t find anything too scary in the details on these sites, that isn’t how they get ahead on these two. FYI, the founder of digg.com was recently on the cover of Time, pretty neat

I am in the Houston, Texas area; but supposedly we connect with internet, so teammates can be international. I am not understanding how the teams are going to sort out, other than a random selection.

Hi! Richard here. As I watch each video, I am getting increasingly excited about this. It sounds like a lot of fun and challenging also. I can see that I’ll be up late tonight catching up here! I will read the homepage and email again, but I had the impression that day 1 of 30DC begins tomorrow. Is that correct?

Hi everyone - nice to see a few new posts. I only found out about this two days ago - crammed yesterday. Couldn’t watch the video - probably need to have some piece of technology that allows viewing MP4 - haven’t seen that in the past.
I tried to download Twitter - couldn’t do it. Now I have to catch up for today as well - couldn’t be here.
I note several people need a team - so do I. The way to do it though is to go to the Forum, select the section to do with Teams and make the request there. I learned that in yesterday’s cram session. I’m about to do that. Maybe we will meet up there.

I just managed to get some time for catching up with the challenge! I am in Valencia (Spain).
I also need teamates with experience since my is very limited!. I am very good using computers and some off the shelves softwares, technically fairly clueles.

I went to Digg to with 30 day challenge but it was rejected as spam whats happening , this is the least like spam I have ever seen???

Hi Ed,
You sure look sexy on camera and that British accent is awesome. But do you really need us to watch a 5 minute video for information that could be conveyed in 2 paragraphs and/or bulleted lists that maybe take 20 seconds to read? Written information is random access… I can just to the key bits right away and skip back and forth. Audio and video streams are not.
Here’s what I heard:
* Work in teams. 4-5 is an ideal size
* Get yourself signed up on digg and stumbleupon
That would take 5 seconds to read. A 98% savings.
Aren’t we all about efficiency, getting to the point fast, optimizing our use of time? I personally find that the glut of so-called instructional videos is going the wrong way, especially if it’s just a guy in front of a camera talking. Now there situation where video is useful, e.g. when you’re showing how to do certain things, etc. but I would guess that the majority of videos out there doesn’t qualify.

I second Wolf’s suggestion. Videos take a lot of time and, unless one takes lots of notes, one has to spend more time re-hearing the videos. If the information could be provided (or summarized) in textual form, it would serve as a reference to go back to, as needed.
