Wow - What a response.

The ball’s rolling and today’s video talks about teams.Dan Raine

Teams are a great way to enjoy the challenge and they enhance your chances of success.

With great technology like Skype (we will be showing you how to use this early in the week) you can have team members around the world and speak for free!

After you watch the video - stand by to get an email from Dan showing you to the new forum.
Here is the video

You can download the iPod/iPhone version here soon.

See you on the Forum!

Oh! The two sites I wanted you to get signed up on are

http://digg.com
http://www.stumbleupon.com

Ed

PS The photo to the right is Dan Raine making good on the Fifteen K challenge last year. Dan Raine is a Master Marketer and looks very fetching in a pink thong. Don’t worry Folks thats as risque as we are going to get in the Family Friendly 30 Day Challenge.

PPS It would be cruel to point out that there is a video on youtube (search for Dan Raine) of the whole event…

Here are the links to the sites mentioned:

    Digg.com
    StumbleUpon.com

If you go to http://www.dig.com you’ll end up on a Walt Disney Newsgroup site and you probably don’t want that!

    All the best,
    Jonathan

  2. Nello Says:

    Hi Ed,

finally the 30Day Challenge is back. I am very curious to see the development this year after the exploding success of the last challenge.

    In the meantime,

  7. Lisa H Says:

Ed, have you got a cold? Sounding a bit bunged up. Is there something about the 30DC that always brings on illness for you? Or did you catch a chill in cold and wet London? (more likely).

    Lisa xxx

  8. Jeff Says:

AH! My eyes!!! I accidentally stumbled onto the YouTube video of Dan. Yikes! I didn’t realize that was a part of the 30-Day Challenge? Or is a thong one of those new, magical Web 2.0 thingies?

Anyway, looking forward to the opening of the forum. Can’t wait.

  9. Vince Andrews Says:

    Some great information again Ed.

I have not been as excited as this in a long, long time.

To think that we are going to be taught by some top levelers, is really hard to beleive.
Get something done about that cold mate, certainly do not want you to lose your voice
or something else happening, that may prevent you spilling the beans…

Can not wait for the forum to open as i do know how beneficial they are to marketing..

Roll on tomorrow… Is it here yet…

  10. malycom Says:

    Getting excited.

Dan - If you are reading this, stop it now and get the Forum open. I need a team :-)

    Cheers

  11. Jonathan Says:

None of my comments seem to be appearing on any of the blog entries. I wonder if it’s because I’m including Web links?

This one’s got none so hopefully it will show up.

Two sites were mentioned in this video but the links seem to have gone AWOL. I think these are the ones:

    www [dot] digg [dot] com
    www [dot] stumbleupon [dot] com

    All the best,
    Jonathan

  12. larry Says:

Thanks Johathan, I wasn’t too sure about the digg site - I thought Ed said “deek[dot]com” =)

BTW, thanks soooo much for providing your invaluable 30DC Resources Page again this year…you rock!

    Cheers,

ps: Ed, Elderberry juice or lozenges should help keep that cold to a minimum… :-)

    Hello everyone,

I am excited to start the 30 day challenge, however, I already have a problem (sigh). I signed up for digg and stumbleupon as directed, however, when I tried to install the stumbleupon tool bar, an error message came up and said i needed a windows version of 2000 or better. I only have windows 98. I do not know what to do now.

Last year Dan Raine issued a challenge - he would make $15,000 dollars online in a single month with a budget of just $150.

He Fell $347 short. Because of this he had to wear a pink thong in public… This is him fulfilling that bet. (It’s not pretty…)

  22. Robert Says:

  27. larry Says:

I’m looking for a team to join. I don’t have anything Vacations planned for the month of August so I will be active and will see this Challenge all the way through to completion. My day job is in IT so I can help out anyone on my team that needs to get up to speed on the net.

  28. imoonlight Says:

Just signed up with digg.com and stumbleupon.com. So Easy! Now it’s team time — can’t wait!!! I’ve tried inviting a friend or two — it’s good to let folks see what you’re into — and why your lights are still on at 3AM. Now, with the 30 Day Challenge, I hope to learn to get more done in less time… to save on my energy bill, at least.

  31. Patsy Jackson Says:

    Hi All,
I guess you can call me a newbie. I’ve read alot, bought alot and that’s it. Ready to start with a passion.
Someone take pity(ha ha). I need a team.

Note for Linder: The computer I was using did the same. I used my newer laptop and got an error message.
I found out I can still use the site but not the toolbar. The toolbar is just for ease of use
    not use. Hope this helps.

  32. Gail Says:

    Hi,
I too am a newbie, but I’m really excited about what I’ve heard so far. I too got an error on the stimbleupon site. To view the tool bar I had to go into tools, internet options, advanced settings, and change to enable 3rd party browser-extensions. Now my tool bar is up…I hope that helps someone else. I too would love to get in a group - how do we hook up??

    Gail

  33. Christina Says:

I have Signed up for Digg and StumbleUpon as instructed and found some interesting things in there… hmmmmm

I am in Victoria Australia, SO its AEST for me at 10 GMT/UMT….

Anyone who wants to join this Ozzzie team (for obvious similar time reasons) contact me either on SKype [glennphilipsinclair] or even phone if you want 03 57286525…

We can only accommodate 5 people in the team MAX, and its not a first in first served basis, its about attitude dude, I am a bit of a tech head, but am happy to team up with non-tech heads as I also enjoy sharing info that I learn.

I am currently also working with teams from ozzz about Google Cash Detective but to find anyone ozzzie here from that team also would be a bit freaky… hahahha but possible so thats why i mention it…

The Big Ed and Big Dan are lots of fun so lets party…. hard… and play hard.

  44. anne Says:

    Hello all
Is there anywhere that one can actually find out WHAT we are going to do (I know nothing about the previous challenges). I had a look on “stumbleupon” and why does one have to install a toolbar? That sounds suspiciously like it could be a tracking device. Can anyone enlighten me as to why the registration for digg and stumbleupon? I know all about the power of web 2.0 but why these two sites? It looks like I could be stuck there for hours instead of creating products and a website. So Ed and the gang - where can we find out more about what we will need to do?
    Anne - designer from Finland

  45. Maris Says:

    Hi All,

Nui here from Melbourne, Australia, looking for a team, and looking forward to learning. My friend, Rob, put me on to the 30 Day Challenge, so here goes …

    Cheers
    Nui.

  56. Brendan McNally Says:

    Hello Anne,
Firstly I can’t tell you what we are going to do, because like you I am a humble Member so I won’t speculate. I can tell you I have been reading about the ‘websploits’ of one Ed “the legend” Dale for quite a while and have profited a few thousand dollars with very little effort by following his advice. I can also tell you (sorry Ed, maybe soon) that I have yet to pay Ed $1 for any of it.

Stumbleupon & Digg ~ I can guarantee that the toolbar includes tracking and it is all mentioned in the fine print and in the set-up options. You need to make your own judgements on all these things, and I also believe that by the end of The Thirty Day Challenge you will be required to join at least a dozen more such sites and probably register for another dozen to get acces to their Free tools, but now I am speculating.

NOTE: The key you have hit upon though Anne is, you could end up stuck in those and similar sites, I know I do, and it is part of why Web 2.0 works it is in our nature, sometimes you just do read one more story follow one more link.

THE TAKEAWAY: Stay Focused, as Professional online Marketers, we are working….. when we arrive at these sites do just what you came for and leave.

If your tempted to read something bookmark and comeback, if your tempted to read the fine print T & C’s, Privacy Statement etc Bookmark and comeback, if your tempted to click on an Ad Bookmark and comeback…. Guess what happens? you rarely Comeback and you often end up actually completing your objectives ontime….then you can Comeback!

    Highest Regards, Brendan

P.S. One more thing, Trust.. I believe there is a lot of trust and an amazing amount of Goodwill in the Web 2.0 community, how many people buy from websites where there is no physical address, no telephone number and often not so much as an e-Mail address. Some people still buy and by far the majority end up happy ;~)

  57. Karla Cohea Says:

    Hello Everyone,

We are John & Karla ( although John is the main one doing this challenge as my job will be interferring with my time). We are in Horn Lake, MS close to Memphis, TN. We are like some of the others as we are looking for a team also. Joh has some experience with Internet Marketing and software. I do not but I can do emails and do some work to help John on this project. We are looking forward to this challenge and with working with/ meeting new people. So, if you would like to get together to be on a team just shoot us an email and we will talk. John is usually at the computer in the late afternoon till the early morning hours and we are on Central Daylight Time.

We use Yahoo Messenger and our ID is phoenixunlimitedproducts ( @yahoo.com is the rest for our email).

Good luck to all of us,

    John & Karla

  58. Jon Walker Says:

    Hey all,

Ok, I’m up for some fun and games and curious to see
what Ed, Dan and Nick have up their sleeve for 30DC 3.0.

I’m FT online but sure could get a lil’ more web 2.0 savvy
and just looking for the challenge and community of starting
from zilch and getting to the ten spot.

Located in western US and open to teaming for a small
    mastermind to make something happen.

    Bring it on boys.

    Jon

    P.S. Hi Caro :-D

  59. Shayna Purvis Says:

    Hi guys,
Can’t wait to start the 30 day challenge! I’m new to all this but am excited about this awesome opportunity to learn how to make money on the web and eventually quit my corporate day job! :)
    Best of luck everyone! :)
    Shayna

  60. anne lipsanen Says:

Thank you Brendan for your comprehensive reply and Hi again everyone!
I am one extremely focused individual and SOO serious about this - hence my misgivings about things that might difuse the said focus. And about the tracking - some of us here in the northern reaches of the E Empire are a bit jumpy these days about all this surveilance you see. Well, I will go and sign up and during the course get in and get out as per instructions. I don’t know if there are any others from the nordic countries on the course for a team (Hej alla!), but a team from the four corners of the globe is fine. I just know time wise (for quick back and forth contact etc.) it is probably easier to be more or less from compatible zones - even if the geographical areas can be quite far flung (like Africa and Europe.) I can be contacted via the “contact me” page on my fledgeling website:
    anniarts.com
    Good luck
    Anne

  61. Patrick Teglia Says:

Well, this has my excitement factor pretty high.

If anyone is wondering (looking at you anna), I believe it is optional to install the toolbar, but that allows you to rate and recommend sites that you come upon. So if you had the toolbar installed, and you came across, say, thirtydaychallenge.com, you could rate it and recommend it so that it’s “Rank” goes up on StumbleUpon. Same way with Digg.com, it is a rating and referral site, so you can generate buzz on these sites.

Sure you should read the fine print, but I am pretty sure you won’t find anything too scary in the details on these sites, that isn’t how they get ahead on these two. FYI, the founder of digg.com was recently on the cover of Time, pretty neat :)
    Pat

  62. Mary Weaver Says:

    Hi everyone,

I can’t wait to get started! I did the challenge last year. I didn’t make my first dollar in the 30 days; actually I made my first dollar on day 234! SO the message is don’t give up.

If I can do it anyone can!

I would love to be on a team this year. Live on the east coast in Massachusetts but open to all time zones.

    I’m ready to go.

Obviously I am looking for team mates (3 to 5) that are willing to spent the time and give it a go.
I am in the Houston, Texas area; but supposedly we connect with internet, so teammates can be international. I am not understanding how the teams are going to sort out, other than a random selection.
    Where is the forum?
I have been spending time signing up on digg and stumbleupon.
Maybe I will stumble on to my team mates.

    For clean water everywhere,

  73. R. Ralston Says:

Hi! Richard here. As I watch each video, I am getting increasingly excited about this. It sounds like a lot of fun and challenging also. I can see that I’ll be up late tonight catching up here! I will read the homepage and email again, but I had the impression that day 1 of 30DC begins tomorrow. Is that correct?
Also, I would love and appreciate it if somebody has a team started and would be willing to add me to it.
I’ll check my emails again for one about the forum to get on teams.

Wishing everybody a great time and a lot of hands on learning…hoooray!

I’ll be back on the job in the a.m. - got to get some sleep now.

    I’m looking for a team.

    Until tomorrow….
    Catherine

  77. R. Ralston Says:

    Hi Catherine and everybody,

Up late myself trying to catch-up some. For those looking for a team still, the place where a team I’m in easily came together is by clicking the ‘forums’ link in the upper right hand section of this page. There’s a seperate forum section for getting in a team. You probably already know that, but being a late-sign-up member myself, thought it might help somebody.

  78. Usha Bhavani Says:

    Hello everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Usha from India and am a freelance writer and internet marketer. It’s wonderful being part of this. Since this is my first time here, I have no clue how things work around here.

I wasn’t here for the pre-season info., so I am getting caught up as I find out where to look. This is new to me, but I am learning and I am ready to follow directions. I also need a team, as I see most of us are inquiring about. So, guess I will wait and see.

Hi everyone - nice to see a few new posts. I only found out about this two days ago - crammed yesterday. Couldn’t watch the video - probably need to have some piece of technology that allows viewing MP4 - haven’t seen that in the past.

I tried to download Twitter - couldn’t do it. Now I have to catch up for today as well - couldn’t be here.

I note several people need a team - so do I. The way to do it though is to go to the Forum, select the section to do with Teams and make the request there. I learned that in yesterday’s cram session. I’m about to do that. Maybe we will meet up there.

Wishing us all luck. We’ve got some hard work ahead
    Catherine

  128. InspiredWritingResearch Says:

Help, wait up! - latecomer breathlessly catching up! Am I too late already? Busy here catching up with all the pre-season and looking for a team. Briefly my interests/experiences are:
Freelance writing (www.inspiredwritingresearch.com to find out in more detail)
    SEO article writing online
    Affiliate marketing from articles/websites/blog
    Education/teaching/English Literature
    Ireland
    Travel
    Parenting
Short Stories (BellaOnline short stories page editor)
Oh yes - and being a newbie at this!

Hope to find a team with a like-minded interest/goal to link up with.
    Thx

    (PS Great course so far!)

  129. Wolfram Arnold Says:

    Hi Ed,

You sure look sexy on camera and that British accent is awesome. But do you really need us to watch a 5 minute video for information that could be conveyed in 2 paragraphs and/or bulleted lists that maybe take 20 seconds to read? Written information is random access… I can just to the key bits right away and skip back and forth. Audio and video streams are not.

    Here’s what I heard:
    * Work in teams. 4-5 is an ideal size
    * Get yourself signed up on digg and stumbleupon

That would take 5 seconds to read. A 98% savings.

Aren’t we all about efficiency, getting to the point fast, optimizing our use of time? I personally find that the glut of so-called instructional videos is going the wrong way, especially if it’s just a guy in front of a camera talking. Now there situation where video is useful, e.g. when you’re showing how to do certain things, etc. but I would guess that the majority of videos out there doesn’t qualify.

    My 2 cents,

    Wolf

  130. Carl Says:

I second Wolf’s suggestion. Videos take a lot of time and, unless one takes lots of notes, one has to spend more time re-hearing the videos. If the information could be provided (or summarized) in textual form, it would serve as a reference to go back to, as needed.

  131. Jim Says:

Where do I go to make contact with those looking for a team. I am looking for a team too.

  132. Robyn Says:

Can I also make a request for text back up to the video? My DSL connection is dodgy and I have waited 8 min and counting for Ed’s next words via video. Am new to this, so don’t want to miss a word!

  133. Cee Says:

Hi just wanted to report that the video stops streaming after about 1-2 mins of Ed speaking. Are there technical difficulties. Hope it gets fixed soon don’t want to miss out on the information. Thanks in advance! :)

  134. Karen Belyan Says:

I am looking for a team. Won’t be available until August 11, but hope to learn fast. Anyone interested in letting me join their team as a late-comer?

  135. Mary Says:

Just finding out about the 30DC. Anyone looking for a team member from the United States?

  136. Debbie Says:

    Mary and Karen,
I’m just joining. I’m looking for a team. Are you still looking for people?

  137. Grant Wilson Says:

    Hi Ed,

I can see your vision with this 30 day challenge.

I hope that once you team up with a group of 4
or 5 people that is going to help everyone in that
    team to strive ahead?

I have been researching all different kinds of ways to
Market online. I must admit the biggest niche that all
Marketers are joining are social Networks because they are
targeted for Marketers and people who loves helping
    people.

I will join dig and stumbleupon very soon after viewing
    the forum.

I would have completed 2 Pre Season training days in
    a few mins.

    Have an inspiring day

    Grant Wilson

  138. Jesse Says:

Sounds like you got a cold there, bro’ - toss back a shot of vinegar or some pickle jar juice… it’ll sweat the cold right outta ya! Whiskey or rum’d do it too, but with the first suggestionjs you don’t get dizzy :P lol

Oh, right - this sounds like it’s gonna be FUN!!!!

    hehe

    Laters!

    - Jesse ^_~
