Just for reference, all the add-ons for FireFox Ed mentions are available at the firfox site except ‘SEO FOR FIREFOX’ you need to get that add-on here: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html

Am I doing something wrong? When I type in either SEO For Firefox or Google Notebook, it does not locate them. I’ve gotten the rest downloaded but these two are eluding me.

Hi,
Yes I had the same trouble, but no problem here are the links, and a few others, which maybe useful.
Google Notebook requires a Google acc
see http://www.google.com/notebook/
SEO for Firefox is at their own site confusingly called SEOBOOK.com

If you dont have it I suggest you get FIREBUG, it is a great tool for debugging your your web pages

search for google notebook at google links are there

Thank you SOOOOO much for the QuickTime file! For some reason, streaming video doesn’t work well for me and you’ve saved me hours of frustration by including this. Hope all the vids in the challenge will have that option! Thanks Ed. . . .Stephanie

Thanks Nickv. I appreciate your taking the time to post those links.
July 23rd, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to nickv for posting the links; it saved a lot of headaches for me.
@Ed Dale: Why did you not post the links? For semi-advanced users it is far faster to click on a few links and install the plugins than to watch a video three times trying to catch everything.
Maybe that is just me, though.
July 23rd, 2007 at 5:26 pm
PS: Forgot two things.
1. I also REALLY appreciate the QuickTime format!
2. I wast trying to offer constructive criticism in my last comment. Please don’t take it otherwise!

Can anyone tell me how to install Firefox so that it doesn’t grab my system every time I log on or receive an email or try to go to the net? I uninstalled Firefox because I couldn’t get it to stop activating and I need to be able to use IE 6.0 for one of my consulting contracts. Firefox was a real pain. HELP!
July 31st, 2007 at 6:06 pm
Well!!
Short N sweet, if Ive gotta d/l firefox an use it, NO THANKS!!! A friend changed over to that an he’s had nothing but problems with it!!!!
July 31st, 2007 at 6:17 pm
I’m afraid if Firefox is definately needed for 30 Day Challenge I’m a non-starter, which is quite dissapointing cos 30 dc looks very interesting. Is it really essential?
July 31st, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Thanks Ed,
This really helped. I have all the add ons.
August 1st, 2007 at 1:20 pm
Ok - Firefox 1 done and now getting ready to listen to #2. I’m doing all I can to catch up.
I was in Sacramento taking the Bar last week and then went to San Diego for R&R.
Hope to be up to speed this afternoon.

I downloaded FireFox but I don’t see the toolbar?
I did not choose FireFox as my default browser. So how do I use this FireFox? Do I show and Hide it at will?
I have to be in the FireFox browser to download the “SEO for FireFox”. So how do I make the browser appear so I can use it?

Hello!
I’m trying to download the seo book. but when i press on click here to download i get the message:

Well d ya know you can use Foxy tunes to listen to the 30dc podcast while browsing….
August 10th, 2007 at 5:37 am
Hi, I’m new to the 30dc. Found it on Stumble Video late last night. Was up to 3am and early this morning catching up, and I’m hooked. I’ve got to say this is really fantastic. Looking forward to increasing my site traffic. One of the best sites i’ve some across this year, can’t thank you guys enough.
Once more comment @ RavinSixties. Don’t knock programs just because one person you know has problems with it, you don’t know what they’ve done to their computer. I run a pc repair company, and unlike Norton and IE, Firefox is one of the biggest killers of work I know. Everytime a customer comes to me with viruses and spyware, i put on Firefox and i never here form them with virus/spyware problems again. Apart from all the amazing features it has Firefox is one of the best security tools you can use. Be a bit adventurous, and don’t be so quick to knock. Ed knows his stuff, he’s spending his time sharing it with us, embrace it!
August 11th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
Can someone help me? I downloaded Foxfire, and tried to then add the delicious add-on. I keep getting a message that the “xpi” extension is not recognized, and will not let me do the download. What am I doing wrong?
THanks, Gail
August 11th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Oh my goodness, this is going to be a wild ride!! I evidently did not have foxfire completely installed when I tried to get the delicious add-on before. I did get it downloaded. I have SO MUCH TO LEARN - but I refuse to panic. Thanks Ed and Dan for all this great stuff!

Let me just say, this kinda sucks. If I had of know Firefox was going to be the official browser then I wouldn’t have dowloaded digg and stumpleupon and put that on my IE browser. Now I’m trying to figure out how to set up my Firefox browser like Ed in the video and there is now how to on that. Trying to remain positive but this is hard work already and I’m not even caught up the the challenge yet either.

please help

I already like the session manager plugin and I haven’t watched the next video yet….I’ve been shutting down my pc with my firefox windows open on purpose because then when I boot back up, I get the option to restore the session. Looks like session manager will give me this option, but even better….I can get a window back if I close it by accident, very cool. Thanks!

I can’t keep silent! There are some bad decisions being made, so…
To All the People Objecting to Firefox:
Listen up and learn something!
In the right hands and with the right knowledge Internet Explorer can be made just as safe as any other browser. However, straight out of the box, it is more vulnerable to compromise than any of the other major browsers.
If you have a personal preference for any particular browser for regular use, there is still absolutely *NO* good reason not to have Firefox installed as one of your browsers, and to use it when appropriate.
There is nothing to stop you having multiple browsers installed — in fact many IT professionals and probably all Web developers do just that.
One of the attractive things about Firefox is the quantity of *safe* third-party extensions that are available for it. Some of these extensions will be used to great advantage during the Thirty Day Challenge.
If you’ve heard of someone experiencing problems because they “switched” to Firefox (and as I said you don’t have to “switch” - you just use it when appropriate) then that someone has system problems that are nothing to do with Firefox, and they’d be well advised to take remedial action soonest.
The issue of potential vulnerabilities in browsers is a very complex one and even experienced computer users often make *apparently* sensible decisions for all the wrong reasons. For example, you can’t escape Internet Explorer just by not using it. Even if you don’t use it, apply updates and patches whenever they are released anyway.
No, I am not part of the Thirty Day Challenge team.

Ed’s always got it going on doesn’t he? Hey Ed, sorry to miss out on the last 30-day challenge. Now that I have a few things cleared up and openings in my schedule, I’m going for it right now! I’ve been using Flock since the last thirty day challenge right along side Firefox. I just wanted to say its great your showing the secrets to using Firefox. Keep er’ comin’!
November 11th, 2007 at 12:11 am
Ed,
I noticed that Firefox is no longer showing the SEO for Firefox extension. Is there a counterpart that is worthwhile?
Thanks!

I just downloaded Firefox and went to the next step of installing add ons, I started with delicious (periods not included) and the files have “xpi” after it and I am not able to read the downloads. I have a pc, has anyone run into this before? Have I missed a step somewhere?
Thanks!

I like your instructions very much but I do not like the repeated references to Mac being superior. I have both Mac and PC and they both have their good and bad sides. I find the whole issue about pc vs Mac childish and I wish that we all stopped doing that because some people get really upset because they thnik they bought the wrong computer hurt by this ort get angsuish that they doid both the right make etc.. while it is all bollocks, if you pardon my French.
January 5th, 2008 at 7:54 am
oops, my comment was published by accident by pressing the wrong button and. Sorry about the last meaningless sentence, it shouldn’t be there
Anyway, I’m grateful for what you do for us, but everytime I get annoyed by this Mac vs PC story that we are hearing for the past decade.

Hi Laura. I just started this challenge myself, but I have been using firefox for well over a year. I believe that once you start using it, you will love it. It is a very safe download and many say much more secure than IE.
