Great Tumblr Gmail Tip
Some super cool Tips!

tumbler+gmail tip - Thirty Day Challenge Forums
I just thought that I would offer up a small tip for setting up multiple tumblr blogs on the same gmail address. The first thing you need to know is that gmail supports something called “plus” (+) addressing. What this means is that you can use a plus (+) sign in addition to your gmail address, to create an on the fly, brand new, email address. Clear as mud? Let me show you what I’m talking about:Let’s say that your email address is mrcool@gmail.com. You can tell tumblr (and other sites) that your email address is mrcool+my1stumbrellaphrase@gmail.com. For your second tumblr blog, just tell them that your email address is mrcool+my2ndumbrellaphrase@gmail.com Note the + sign in these two examples.
I just did this, and set up two tumblr blogs in about 4 minutes, on the same address. This little trick will save you the hassle of setting up 1000 seperate gmail accounts, one per niche, that you have to log into seperately. Use this tip for signing up to newsletters, or anything else that you want.
Part two of the tip is this: in your gmail account, there is a thing called “labels”.
Go into your gmail settings, and set up a filter that will direct mrcool+my1stumbrellaphrase@gmail.com into a label called my1stumbrellaphrase. Now, whenever you get mail at that address, it is automatically filed for you, and you know exactly what it is about!
Bonus tip: use mrcool+junk@gmail.com for anything that you have to sign up for, but don’t want to, like one of those annoying sites that demand a sign-up before they let you into the forums. Set up a filter that drops it into your trash or spam folder.
One note: substitute “mrcool” for your email address please, otherwise the real “mrcool” will come and do some very uncool things to me for sponsoring the bombardment of his address
Hope this helps!
Marc

That’s the best tip someone has shared so far. Awesome! And I especially like these tips that are transferable to everything else we do and not just useful for the Challenge. That rocks!
Thanks so much, Marc!

Marc, thanks for sharing this. Very helpful!
Ed- thanks for being the kind of teacher/leader you are. I have recently seen other well known
‘experts’ who would not post or bring attention to anything but themselves.
And worse, sometimes posted great tips as though they were their own.
You’ve been totally righteous throughout. The integrity of you and your staff is just brilliant!

I wonder if yahoo offers anything like this….

That is an outstanding tip….
So we could also take this a step further and use this for filtering/labeling any marketing ezines, niche research, or other lists we sign up for as we surf the net.
This is such a cool tip.

In my case, all this super talent finds answers to questions that I dont even know to ask. WOW! What a pace. I can hardly wait to start making the first $10. Without 30DC, I would now have known about all this for years. Rock on Ed! KT

gmail also allows you to add “.” to your address.
if your gmail is john@gmail.com you can insert periods anywhere in the name… so j.o.h.n@gmail.com and it will be come to the same address.
