John, very useful. Strange things occurring though…. as I go back into the ‘edit html tab’ (after I’ve saved, logged out, and come back in) the java code disappears.

Am I the only one having this problem?

    Shamir

    Hey John Thanks!
One my tumblr sites is #12 on the Google list of my two word phase —
Now to tweak it and make some money! This one took 9 hours to get listed,
haven’t see the others come up yet …

Glad you guys liked the video. If I can manage to stay awake, theres a part 2 coming tonight.

@Shamir - Try making sure that FILTER HTML is CHECKED in your settings. I will mention this in tonights video.

    Good work!

“My window is smaller than normal”… Yeah, yeah, the lesson is to film in a warm room to avoid embarrassment.

  14. Nikolay Piriankov Says:

    Please help… this is what i see after i do what you suggest… my description is not empty, it has the following text: _uacct = “UA-2436541-3″; urchinTracker();

  15. Beth Stevenson Says:

You have a real gift for teaching. Everything was clear, concise, and effective. Thanks so much.

  16. Tracey Says:

    Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Thanks!

  17. Cyn Abel Says:

    If you get : the following text: _uacct = “UA-2436541-3″; urchinTracker();

make sure that FILTER HTML is CHECKED in your settings at the bottom of the page before adding the script. I had the same problem until I checked the box. Be sure to go into the HTML Description box and delete the bad code. Checkmark the Filter HTML box, update. Then add the code script again.

    Life’s a journey for some of us…

  18. Cyn Abel Says:

Is the script suppose to show up in the Description box when HTML button is clicked. If so, mine is disappearing. And Google claims tracking isn’t installed. AAAGH!

  19. Cyn Abel Says:

My pop-up blocker may be to blame. I finally got to Waiting for data stage. Yeah!

  20. Dianne Corriere Says:

Another great video, John. Thank you so much.

  24. Ralph Jacobsen Says:

    I’m having a problem…

When I click on the html icon … and the screen comes up … the ‘update’ icon disappears … so I’m not able to ‘update’ my changes!!!

when I try to drag the bottom bar down the update icon appears momentarily … but when I release my whatever the darn icon disappears again!!!

    any suggestions?

    Rj

  25. Nancy Hall Says:

OOOOpsss! When I did all of that and came back into the Google Analytics. Then I clicked on Check Status

It said that it has not seen the connection to my site.

I went back to Tumblr and re did the adding of the text to the HTML site and it looks good in the page. I saved and saved and went back a second time to the analytic page to check the status… Nothing happened. It does not see that I added the HTML stuff to the tumbler site.

    What can I do?

  26. June Tanner Says:

I’m now set up in Tumblr, and the Google Analytics works, but I can’t seem to get my Google adsense codes to work. Any thoughts on where I may be going wrong there?

I would also like to know how to set up Google Analytics in the TDC blog that I started. I feel dumber than a bag of rocks that I can’t figure this stuff out by myself.

Thanks for any help you can pass on.

  27. Parker Says:

Tumblr has since been updated as well as the Google analytics code. I’ve tried doing exactly what the tutorial told me to, I even inserted the code in the body as Google tells you to and nothing works. Do new users just have to use another site tracker?
