Ed has just put up a great lesson on writing headlines. We had a streaming version here but it was messing with the blog. I will get this fixed as soon as possible, but for now, you can download the Hi-Def version here.

  11. It’s funny, I have been collecting headlines for almost as long as I can remember. (I started in sales when I was 17 and I am mid 60s now ) My journal is one of those 50cent spiral bound notebooks. I know that I would be lost if I ever lost it, for sure. But anyway one of my favorite places to look for headlines is the National Enquirer. Talk about attention getters, they know how to write them!
Ben Settle at bensettle.com has a swipe file that is free for the asking. He seems to always find really great stuff.

Am I the only one who can’t get this video to work?
I got an email from the TDC list telling me this video talked about headlines and had some good examples. I’m currently in the process of trying to improve a headline so I was interested in watching. I clicked the link above, but all it makes is a page with this: g‘Êgû$h;Åh§xhç„iW˜i˜ on it and the video never loads or asks for a download. Did something happen to it?

You need to right click and download the file to your computer to watch it
