Well put Ed, thanks for doing a quick video about it.

I did go ahead and download FireFox 3 yesterday - just doing my part to help them set their record :) I use it everyday and still need to take the time to migrate and test all the add-ons I use - in Flock.

I’ll still use Flock for the challenge - my 10 year old son has decided to join me. It just makes sense for us to use Flock as a baseline and follow along with the training. If I get the urge to rebel and switch to FireFox 3, I’ll wait until after he goes to bed.

Thanks for all you do… -Steve

    Hi Ed,

Excellent advice about not jumping to FF3 for the 30DC.

I love FF but I have also been VERY impressed with Flock.

Also, a note to experienced users-don’t forget that every extension you’re using now doesn’t work with FF3….YET. I’ve read a number of posts by people saying that several of their “must have” extensions stopped working.

I would at least give it some time to settle in.

Thanks for all your great content and teaching.

    Jeff

Don’t get me wrong, I love Firefox. While switching to Flock for #30dc may feel like we’re cheating on our old friend - Firefox will understand. Flock just meets our needs a little bit better for the challenge ahead.

    But seriously folks…

When the point is to learn and put into practice some new internet marketing skills - beginning with learning new technology is a great foundation for the rest of the stuff Ed & Dan (and the other challengers, no doubt) have to teach us. These guys are masters at their craft.

It’s an honor to be learning from them, so I intend to be open to change and trust them when they say to use a certain tool in a certain way.

    Thanks guys!

    Meg Meyer

  4. Hi Ed

Thank you for the advice and I have installed firefox 3 as I want to use what you recommend and that flock and when i following the lessons I would know what to look for and where much easier than going with some other browser.

Thanks again Ed I agree, I am very sold on Flock and it’s expertise and will use it through the 30dc.

  8. Yesid Alean says:

or you like internet explorer! I love the face that Ed made when said this.

  9. Wizz says:

From what i understand in the latest version, firefox 3 is fully implimented in Flock. You get both when you use it. You may lose some of your add ons however.

  10. Flock does look excellent I will definately use it but I live by some of my firefox addons not sure I can live without them yet

Thanks for the post Ed - had followed all the hype on the download for version 3 firefox - good for them I thought - and was wondering your views on it re: TDC. Makes sense to use Flock for the TDC purposes because of all the social marketing functionality built in, which is great. On a different note, really looking forward to hearing more about exactly where yours and Dan’s conference is going to be as would love to get there. I’m based in the UK though, but am already thinking if it was NY maybe it might be poss to get a cheap flight ……… but then again maybe not the way prices are going. Anyway, fingers crossed. Final thing - as the recorded shows are way after my bed time being in the UK, is there any chance of you recording the after sessions and questions and info and such - it would be great to have access to those. Thanks a million again.

Well, the training so far has been GREAT! Learned a lot of great ideas (especially Twirl and Reader!) that I will implement ASAP!
However, I just found you and started on the Pre-Season, and had already downloaded FF3. Lost Google Docs Sidebar which I had just found a week earlier and was NOT happy!
    Everything else is pretty cool.
I’m not “Chicken” to try Flock, but I am just a couple of days away from a major launch of the first part of my business, and I am afraid that I will have to spend too much precious time learning something new when I need to put that time in business launch!

I’ve been using FF2 and now “3.1″ and it works great. I also have to use IE6 as my internet based billing service won’t run on anything else. For the 30DC I’ve got Flock up and running and I love that too.

There’s really no reason not to use different browsers for different purposes.

BTW I did the speed tweak on both Flock AND FF3 and it worked beautifully for both of them.

I also put all of the extensions that Ed’s shared with us on both browsers.

Anybody out there planning on making their $10 in the field of healthcare who would like to TEAM UP!!

  14. Rafiq says:

Yeah, flock sounds interesting to me. It’s taking the browser to a whole new level. I had no idea about it till you mentioned about it. cool, i’m going to get it and install it

  15. Sue says:

We noticed that when installing Flock that you could check to make it the default browser. IE still quietly lurks on this machine, but we predominantly use Firefox and love it. If Flock becomes the default browser will that become “so” if we’re reading an Ebook and all the links within always bring up IE by default? That would be worth the disk space/install all by itself. Flock looks so cool, too. (Yeah, lots of old Ebooks that get dumped daily:)
