Hi Guys, thanks for all the info over the past few days!! This looks great. Im a late starter and have now caught up, found a niche with keywords and NOW set to fire off a wordpress direct blog. I gave up on the last 30DC but not this time. You Guys rock, everything seems to be falling into place. I can’t wait for day 7. BFN.

    Hi Guys,

Just a few comments and questions for the 30DC team and members about the day 6 training and WordPress Direct.

I’ve been using WordPress for a number of years now for various projects and I have a few questions with relation to WordPress Direct over WordPress 2.6 (latest version).

Now correct me if I’m wrong but is WordPress Direct catered more towards novice users?

Can anyone tell me what the advantages other than ease of use and simplicity for beginners WordPress Direct offers over WordPress 2.6 with all the relevant SEO and affiliate plugins installed.

Furthermore are you able to gain access to the backend of the platform to further extend WordPress Direct with plugins and widgets and customize the blog using XHTML, CSS and PHP. As a web designer this would be very useful.

Also all the themes for WordPress Direct do not validate to W3C standards, which does not do much good for your search engine rankings and accessibility.

Anyway just some thoughts. Have fun with the challenge folks.

    Regards

    Gareth

  3. Gareth says:

P.S. Is WordPress Direct actually built on the original WordPress platform and if so what version?

  4. epineto logico says:

Much as I would like to speed up because I started last, I can not, due to long buffering period of the lessons via the video medium.

Is there anything that could be done to speed-up or avoid the buffering?

    Thanks

    Net

  5. That nameboy service is cool. I started doing searches for domains and got all excited cause their were some really good one word ones. Then I tried to buy em and they were all unable to be bought… Is their a way to let it only show what’s actually available?

  6. bruce jones says:

Hi gang, it all works, just like ed says. I followed the tutorial and I now have a word press blog with a product linked to Amazon, and a whole bunch of copy ready to go for the next phase. Your tutorials are excellent, very well produced.

thanks ed and gang, great job, can’t wait to learn more

Hi Guys, I thought you might like to know that although the wordpress direct site looks great and has a good feel to it, it does run very slow, in fact it has crashed this afternoon. No problems but it means I will be a day behind playing catch up now as I have a busy weekend ahead. I hope to come back and have another stab tonight, fingers crossed the internal server error is sorted.

Also guys, on the free subscription to word press direct are you still able to add adverts as described in the video? Only ask because once my site was updated after putting ont he affiliate advert from Amazon, it didn’t show on my web page, I guess more teething problems. Hope you guys fix can push them to get the fix ASAP. Good stuff anyhows. BFN

  8. Turnapie says:

Hello again, sorry for the typos on the last post….Ive been at this all day. Listened to all the videos and the pre season in one big Safari….Great Hey…..bfn

  9. Savio says:

Hi Guys, just want to say that this stuff is simply great. Am looking forward to the rest. Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

  10. Alfred says:

Great information, thank you Dale !

    Hey Ed,
I know that you put the princess on your knee so that we cannot be upset with you. What you do not understand is that she knows you are using her and when the teen years come the bill comes due. I can say that because my daughter is mired well in her teens and I now know this fact

  12. Sim says:

Just finished with my wordpress direct blog and things are looking great. I like the service and think it will be a fantastic addition to a value creating marketing program.

  13. David says:

Well after some serious trial and errors I finally got the WordPress Direct to work. And not that it is working, I can see how powerful it can be. What I like is that I will be able to maintain all of my blogs from one spot. This makes things a lot easier. And wow content finders, how cool is that?

Clicking on my name above will take you to my first blog created with the system of the 30DC. I am stoked. Can’t wait to wake up in the morning and see if it worked by looking at the stats and seeing if there was any traffic and maybe even a sale or two.

    Thanks 30DC team.

  14. Lyn says:

I got stuck trying to use the automatic content stuff in WordPressDirect. I thought I had everything necessary but nothing shows up.

Are you going to cover these features of WPD? I hope so, to me that’s the main point of it.

Also, (from reading the forum) what can we do about finding more themes that will accept a Sales Offer?

  15. Covert Sales says:

    Hey guys.

Great to see the pimped version of 30 Day Challenge…gosh, has it been that long since the 30 Days originals made history on the net?

That being said, these are interesting times…24hours have never seemed so short.
I specialize in traffic generation using craigslist, forum marketing and pcc…have has stupendous results before…but anything new’s always worth the check.

Let’s see what’s in store with blogs.

  16. Evie says:

Sorry to say that this for this novice, I’m not feeling the love from wordpress. This this has been the most frustrating of the lessons. Getting from host gator to wordpress assumes knowledge that a novice doesn’t have. There’s an information gap between Lesson 6 video 2 and 3. I’ve done all the tutorials in hostgator and wordpress. Still getting errors in wordpress. My site still isn’t up but I’m staying with this even after a ridiculous number of hours on what should have taken just minutes. Open ticket, site is still not up. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  17. Evie says:

Have to come back and give some love to Wordpress. My apologies! I’ve been struggling to get my site installed for 2 days now. I kept getting “FTP transfer” error messages when I tried to install the blog on wordpress. Nothing I did worked. The problem wasn’t on your end. I’ve been on the wordpress site trying to figure it out, and on the hostgator site trying to figure out the FTP mechanism. As a non-techie, you don’t know what to ask or how to ask it. I wasn’t sure if the problem was with Hostgator or Wordpress. Having this problem made me go back and listen to the 30DC lesson 6, hostgator, and wordpress “beginner” trainings until I could almost recite them verbatim. After figuring out what was “supposed” to happen, I was finally able to articulate the problem to a hostgator support person.

Turns out the problem wasn’t with hostgator or with wordpress, but with FLOCK, which kept cacheing my site and sending me back to the hostgator “getting started” page. A simple control-F5 solved the problem — after 2 days of talking with support folks.

The old me would have quit by now, not only because this was REALLY frustrating, but also because this was something that was supposed to happen in 60 seconds or so. Apologies again to Wordpress and thanks to John at hostgator support for figuring out the problem.

Persistence pays off. Stay in the game.

  18. [...] that’s all I gotta say. And don’t get me started on Market Samurai. All I know is that I was able to create a blog website today, in two hours, from marketing to blogging two posts. I didn’t have to call a webmaster. I didn’t have to find a graphic designer that knew [...]

  19. Problem Day 6

    ——————————————————-
The 2008TDC06_Blog_Install PDF file tells us how we can
install a WordPress Direct blog. Very nice. We are new
to the site and we enter our information.

But what if we have been at the site before. What are
we to do that? Enter all our information again? Or is
    there a shorter way?
    ——————————————————-
Very nice. We can select a theme for our blog. Even
better. We can do a search for a theme. It is shown in
    the PDF file.

I want to do something with the Law of Attraction. So I
did a search for Law of Attraction. Nothing could be
    found. What is the matter?

Wait a minute. Why no do a search for self improvement
? I did that. But again. Nothing showed up. Nothing
    could be found.

What can I do now? Just pick a theme? That is not
explained in the PDF file. Why is it not explained in
    the PDF file?
    ——————————————————-
According toe the PDF file there is a button saying:

“Check Settings & Proceed to Next Step”

I didn’t find that button. I found the following
    button:

“Create Hosting Account and Proceed to the Next Step”

I clicked on that button and I came to the next screen.
This is the title of the next screen:

“Install a New Website (Step 3)”

That is the same as what the PDF file said.

Why is the PDF file not clear?
    ——————————————————-
The PDF file tells me to tick all the checkboxes for
each keyword in Text (Answers), Video (YouTube), and
    Shopping.

Oh. There is more. If you are using the free version
than the Shopping option is not available. I use the
free version. No option is available.
    ——————————————————-
In the third screen there were checkboxes in front of
Adsense and Google Analytics ID. I have cleared the
checkboxes and clicked the Install Website Now button.
    ——————————————————-
Now the 30 day challenge really is getting nuts. I find
a lot of misinformation. But what I now get. That is
    really top of the bill.

I clicked on the Ads and Banner Setup button. The PDF
file tells me that I can put a title and some copy. And
    I can add an image.

Great. Let do that. First the copy. What copy are we
talking about? Are we talking about the slippery copy
    of day 4?

I have found that you can add some copy to the blog. I
have added the slippery copy to the blog. But I would
like to add an image above the copy.

How do you do that? Oh. First you must put a place
holder somewhere? Where? I see a button in the PDF
file. I don’t see it in the screen I now have.

Wait. You can select an image file from your computer.
After doing that you click the Save Sale Offer button
and the image is added to your Sale Offer.

I have done that. But I see nothing. How can I get my
image to the sale offer area? Links to the image?
    Forget it. No image.
    ——————————————————-
Day 6 was very good. I learned nothing. I could not do
nothing. Right. That is what they told me. Ed Dale
    answers all your questions.

Don’t send him an e-mail. He doesn’t read e-mails. But
If you send him a message through Twitter then he will
    give you a reply.

Why is the 30 day challenge saying that? I have found
out that Ed doesn’t give you a reply. Not even if you
    go to him through Twitter.

Come on now. Don’t tell me that the 30 day challenge
team doesn’t know. Of course they know. They have seen
    how Ed is.

I joined the 30 day challenge. I really hope that I
could learn something. But what do I see? A lot of
    misinformation and no help.

I’m wondering. Is anybody able to finish the 30 day
challenge program? I’m afraid most people do not come
    any further than day 6.

Just a question about this “automated” function. I was under the impression the atomation was part of the 30DC package. At least that is what the wording in the videos and on this blog posting hinted at. Upon subscribing to the free service I have found this not to be the case, a minimum fee of $37 a month is required for the feature as a result of their bronze membership. What’s up with that?

I don’t mind paying for things as long as I am told about the payment up front. When I expect one thing and get another it really turns me off. Perhaps some clarification should be added to the material.

Aside from that this is a wonderful system so far (I am on day 8) and I am learning a lot about internet marketing. Not sure my niche is going to be much of a winner, but I am still learning a lot.

    Thanks gents!
