Hi,

Over the last few days we have published 2 new 30DC pre-season videos in the Training Centre from Guest presenters.

The first is on Google Docs kindly prepared by Eugene Ware from Noble Samurai.  Google Docs is a fantastic resource which offers you Office application functionality (word processor, spreadsheet and presentation tool) in your browser.

The second video is on Skype from our very own Caro McCourtie.  Skype is invaluable for a number of reasons the least of which is to able to make voice calls to any computer anywhere in the world for free.  The other reason we love Skype is the ease with which people can setup a conference call which makes it a perfect fit for participating in a team during the 30DC.

Well those videos should keep you busy for a while but there is much more to come!

Both Google Docs and Skype are fantastic tools.

Google Docs is especially good when working with others and you need to regularly update or modify a document. There are also some great Google specific functions in Google Spreadsheets that can extract URL info. Very Cool!

I started using Skype in 2001 to talk with my parents in Singapore from the U.S.and it’s gotten much better since then obviously. It’s very simple to use and there are a number of recording apps that make it a breeze to record a conversation - much the Internet Marketing This Week team.

I love Skype, so easy to keep in contact with family living in the states.

Can’t say I have delved all that deply into Google docs

On a side note, does anyone have any thoughts on the new Yahoo Scratch pad… will it be of any use in gathering information??

  3. Skype rocks! Sometimes a lil too much. need to keep it turned off

  4. I’m using Google Docs a long time already, it’s a fantastic tool for collaboration. Fast and easy to use and also safe. Never had an issue. You can also simply backup a sheet quickly by downloading it to your computer.

G-Docs Rocks! Here’s just a tiny taste of the cool you can get done with G-Docs…think that’ll catch on like G-Trends did? :) Anyway…

    Here ya go:

    * Make a Desktop Icon that will launch G-Docs

    * Automatically open local files on your desktop from within G-Docs

    * Embed a Dynamic Chart (Pie or other type) into your website that automatically updates when you change the underlying data in your G-Docs spreadsheet.

    * Convert a Word doc into a pdf

    * Add “Live” data to your spreadsheets w/ GoogleLookup & GoogleFinance, this will make some of your spreadsheets update themselves combine this with the embedded chart on your site

    * Embed a Powerpoint/Presentations presentation on your website

    * Create a survey

    And tons more…dig in!

I’m thinking of whipping up some quick video tutorials for these and other cool “hacks” you can do to get more out of G-Docs if there’s enough interest…send me a private message and let me know if you’d like me to put these together.
