Awesome, Great Stuff Guys
August 2nd, 2007 at 7:55 am
Hi!
I downloaded yesterday’s video and liked it!
But I had one problem with my iTunes. Video didn’t run smoothly, it stopped and started again.
When I played it with my VLC player video played fine.
Anyone had similar problems? Any ideas if I should change some settings in iTunes?
Thanks!
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:02 am
Hi there, I’m new at this and I’m looking for a team!!!
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:04 am
Nice one guys. Thanks
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:10 am
Is the training supposed to come down automatically to iTunes … coz mines not
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:11 am
Keep it coming!
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:34 am
Well, if they’re all going to be MP4 videos, that’s the end of me!
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:40 am
Wow… Great videos and podcasts!
However, I can’t register myself into the forum
The message:
Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator.
Have anyone in here able to register into the forum?
Or it’s already closed for good.. !?
Thanks.
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:43 am
When I download the videos in Safari, they get appended with a .txt extension. I’m pretty sure this is a server mime type issue that’s pretty easy to resolve. If anyone else is having this problem, just erase the .txt extension and they’ll play fine.
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:57 am
For some reason I can’t get the podcast & videos to load onto iTunes. Is this a system problem, or do I need to change my settings?
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:09 am
Hey Ed,
I really appreciate the amount of work you’re putting into creating the audio/video material. I am listening and having a feeling that there’s so much idle talk. 30 minutes audio mp3 for example could be compacted into 5-7minutes long file delivering the same information in more compacted way. Otherwise it gets a bit boring when it goes so slowly and lots of wording fills the space almost saying nothing! This goes especially for yesterdays 30 min audio file!
I would very much prefer that instead of listening the 30 minutes audio file - I could look through 8-10 paragraph long textual version of the same message just in much more compact way. Without all the empty wording and time killing.
Having such summary would also be a great thing in terms of accessibility, if I want to operate with the information, I can print it out and mark the most important things, so i can return to any of the parts on later stage and retrieve the most important information!
Think about it, I hope many of challengers will agree with me!
Thank you!
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:12 am
@ Maris - if you want a cut down version, head over to my blog where I’ll be recapping every day’s podcast/videos etc.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:20 am
Thank you Pete, what is the URL of your blog?
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:23 am
Hi Pete,
what’s you blog? I’m not sure how to access it. Thanks, Susan
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:27 am
By the way Maris,
I would like to see a text version also, that I could print out.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:31 am
Maris,
Pete’s site is here:
http://www.thecommonsensemarketer.com/
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:38 am
My schedule is very tight, and I cannot afford to just sit back and listen chit chatting
I need information, compact, correct, right to the point and quality information on specific subject which I can access fast and efficiently. And if MP3 is chosen as format - huhh, it will not be easy to access the information fast!
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:43 am
I really like both the information (it rocks and rules) and the casual style of delivery. I know you are putting tons of time into this and I’m not sure you really are aware of the very positive and life changing influence you are having on so many lives.
Thanks Ed and team.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:49 am
Not that Ed needs any defending…. but there’s great value in taking the time to listen and absorb what he’s saying. Actually, it’s a great instructional technique. As I listen to the podcast and watch the videos, I take notes. That means I’m using a wide range of my senses: visual (moving pictures and the text that I am typing), auditory, and tactile (my fingers touching the keyboard). After I listen to the podcast making notes, I’ll come back later in the day and listen again… just letting it play in the background. My notes are typed into my blog (which happens to be at http://30-days-to-freedom.blogspot.com/), so I come back later in the day to re-read my notes and make sure that I’m on task.
The more you engage your different senses, the better the information will stick with you. Now, I’m not sure how Ed could integrate smelling and tasting into the program… I think there was some discussion on the forum about chocolate…
Happy day,
Anne
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:07 am
Hey, Pete…may I please have the url to your blog, as well? I would love a recap that I can see in text form…I appreciate it!
Kim
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:32 am
I love the videos. It’s like having Ed in my living room. Would I rather have some guy barking out what to do in 4 minutes, or this guy that I really WOULD invite into my house talking conversationally -much as a real person does in the real world? Or maybe I’ m just more plugged into Video than others.
When I watch the video’s I do so with a pen and paper at my hand, but it would be nice to have your blog addy Peter, as I could make sure that I got everything
Anyway, keep it up Ed, your delivery is great. Your information is is new and interesting.
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:36 am
Should these videos we are getting be able to play on my itunes software? If they are I’m doing something wrong. My software hasn’t downloaded any new content which I did set it to do. Having said that the videos are awesome, and because Ed’s accent is so cool I find myself paying closer attention…LOL
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:37 am
@ Maris - you can get all the daily summaries at my blog http://www.webventurer.com/blog/thirty-day-challenge-3/
I listen to and summarise each day with just the core content.
Just look down the right hand side of the blog for the DAILY SUMMARIES category.

For some reason I could not open the video last night. My computer could not find the application. Anyone have a suggestion as to how to solve the problem?
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:53 am
Yea, I agree with Joe. It’s not coming into the podcast because it’s not on the RSS feeds. Could you please create a feed for members that we could download all the videos and podcasts? It’s inefficient to have us come to the member section and download them all separately from the iTunes podcast.
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:58 am
FYI, some feedback for ya… the intro to (at least) that first podcast mp3 has a super long intro. Way too long.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:02 am
Sorry some people don’t like ed’s conversational style. Not sure you are going to change him.
I for one am happy to have a little background, motivation and fun … if you cut it down to the meat you’ll miss the point by being so efficient. Sometimes the fast lane is dangerous.
Stay cool.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:05 am
We are sorting out the feed issue, and I will post up some information for you all tomorrow.
Dan
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:36 am
Dutifully absorbed all that lovely info, went skipping off to Yahoo Answers, toddled into Home and Garden thinking it would be a great place to start.
Top of the list of new questions, a gentleman asks, I quote:
“Does anyone tell me what to do to my avocados?”
Right. Cup of tea, then. I just needed to share, first.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:38 am
If you listen to the mp3 using Windows Media Player, you can crank the Play Speed setting up in the area of 1.4-1.8 and still understand Ed quite well. I tend to listen to much of it set at 2.0, slowing it down only if I need to take notes. If you skip the intro, you can get through the mp3 in 10-15 minutes.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:56 am
Thanks! Great stuff.
BTW… If you feel behind and can’t catch up… I will be selling a copy of my TDC notes on ebay. :p
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:01 pm
@Dan .. thanks for the update of the feeds. It’s no biggie really as it’s just as easy to right-click/save as
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:09 pm
I can’t seem to get the podcast to play and the videos stop in the middle any thoughts?
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:20 pm
I just wanted to say thank you for bringing some clarity to muddled thinking.
I have built sites in the past and they have turned into monstrous white elephants because the niche has not been a niche at all but a huge market sector…….I just couldn’t discipline myself to drill down…..frightened of missing something I guess.
Today, watching the films and listening to you and reading Caro’s posts on the forum there was a loud clanking sound as the penny finally dropped…..I’m surprised you couldn’t hear it in Australia.
I feel utterly foolish regarding my past efforts…..but I am also heartened about future possibilities.
Thank You!!
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:29 pm
I’m having the same problem as others above. None of the new content is updating in iTunes. All the preseason content loaded fine.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:02 pm
I’m enjoying Ed’s conversational style of learning. We can get so caught up in being busy being busy that we miss the nuggets. The information is in the gaps!
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Andry, try using the username and password you used to sign up to the Thirty Day Challenge with, I believe it’s set up so that you’re automatically signed up to the forum when you sign up for the challenge.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Hi every body i just wanted to say that google got many more tools to do research
I’ve made a page with all Google tools on it. i’d like to share it with you & i hope it will be helpful for you as well.
here’s the site url:
http://www.googdesk.com/googdesk2
it’s still in beta but it works great it saves me a lot of time when I’m doing my research.
Thanks you Ed for sharing your wisdom with us
This is Hello from Israel …
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:31 pm
I don’t understand the criticism that the videos are too long, or too conversational in tone. Ed made it very clear at the outset that this Challenge was for newbies and veterans alike. That means some of the teaching will be targeted at the lower end of the experience level. I have been been doing web development for quite some time, and much of the pre-season was more of a review for me, but I don’t really mind. I think of it as more of an opportunity to be mentored by someone who has demonstrated expertise and success in an area I want to learn more about.
I figure I am paying $0.00 for the information, and Ed’s time is probably more valuable than mine on an earnings basis, so he can do it however he wants. I am also grateful that Ed and his team are so willing to share info with us. We might be able to learn this on our own using good old trial and error, but learning from a pro saves us huge time and money. So, I say sit back and enjoy the ride.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:49 pm
I’m really enjoying the conversational style of the podcasts. Many of us are beginners (especially me probably). Today’s videos are only about 5 minutes each, to the point, very clear, and still entertaining. One of the chief things that attracted me to this site is the emphasis on having fun with the learning process! Go Ed go - love the guitar passion!
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:00 pm
Great style. Great info. Great intro.;-)
As I’m on dial-up and it takes forever to download, all I can say is “IT IS worth EVERY anticipated minute!”
Only complaint, should have made the goal an iphone instead of $10.
Thank you, Ed, Dan and the rest of the team.
I will try not to twitter my time away.

Thirty Day Challenge is A Go!
August 2nd, 2007 at 3:03 pm
Hi Ed, This is Jo but I couldn’t join a team so I’ve registered again as Jobla. I’m absolutely useless at this malarky. I don’t even know how to turn the volume up on the old pc so I’m really struggling to listen to the videos and stuff. I can’t for the life of me download the toolbar. My computer just won’t let me because I’m in the google search stuff or something like that. What I really need is some very special help but I’ve needed that for a long time! (ok, that was an attempt at some humour there!) I can’t join a team so that’s why I reregistered and I’ll maybe have another go tomorrow night. I’m going to love you and leave you right now cos’ “House” has just come on the tv and I’m a dedicated “House” veiwer. Ta-ta!
August 2nd, 2007 at 3:14 pm
I am with Joanne, I can’t play the videos and where is the blog. I am lost. Can I do this program without the videos?
Thanks,
Margie
August 2nd, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Good points, Quint. I agree.
I am enjoying the style of the info and, yeah, it can get a little boring in the middle but isn’t that what your fast forward button is for? Kinda like the delete button in your email. It’s there to use.
I’m also having issues with the videos and audios downloading into iTunes. Hopefully as Dan said above, it’ll be sorted out by tomorrow.
Great stuff today! Thanks so much for all you guys do.

Ed and team - thank you!!!!!!! Your time and efforts are much appreciated. To everyone else, yes the videos are sometimes a bit long but you are missing the point if you cut them down. The point is - nothing happens instantly!!!!!! You cannot build or create your businesses by just reading the fine print and missing all the tips that occur along the way. Tips that have been learnt by sheer hard work and determination and that will save us all time and money in the long run.
No I don’t have time to sit and listen to videos or podcasts, I run 7 online businesses, I make the time because I know how valuable the information is going to be. These guys are experts and are giving us their knowledge and skills FREE - no catch, no fees. If the only price I have to pay for that is to watch a 30 minute video THEN BRING IT ON ED I’ll watch them all and watch them again. Day 1 and I have already been able to help two of my clients with the information I have gained. I cannot wait for Day 30 (31)!
Thanks again team - you deserve a medal for your efforts - The Web Wonders love you!
August 2nd, 2007 at 4:06 pm
I’d love a synopsis as well. The videos are causing nasty computer crashes for me. They worked fine when just here on the blog, but I’m sure others were having problems. Love the information, though hitting the wall already. Was hoping to take what I loved and turn it into money rather than fit myself into the world of the top 10.
Sorry…been on the computer way too much with all this the last few days and am frustrated with being discouraged only in day 2…

August 2nd, 2007 at 4:54 pm
Hi Everyone,
Allan and Jerri also brought up the subject earlier.
Please clarify if these training podcasts should be coming automatically through Itunes.
So far I can only access this podcast directly via quicktime (Itunes has received all pre-season podcasts)
Cheers, Sven
August 2nd, 2007 at 4:57 pm
Could not play the videos either. I have windows media player but it does not play .mp4 so I downloaded VLC for windows from this site:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/vlc.cfm
I dont know if it supports firefox.
August 2nd, 2007 at 5:07 pm
I checked out Pete Wailes blog and will defiantly be following the challenge on it. This is the URL http://www.thecommonsensemarketer.com/ As much as the text will be very helpful I find the videos exceptional.
August 2nd, 2007 at 5:55 pm
For all of the people having trouble with computers crashing and video skipping with Ed’s files, I would check out Video Lan Client (VLC) which you can get from videolan.org.
This little player is a gem, and takes up fewer resources than QuickTime (QT is a HOG). I have used it to view the videos, and it works a treat.
You may have to save the video to your computer, and then open it from within VLC since some other player is probably the default on your machine.
Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed (I am not affiliated with videolan.org, I just like their player)
August 2nd, 2007 at 6:02 pm
Hi, Ed, keep it up, I have been selling on the web since 1996 and even at this early stage you have opened my eyes to rethinking many of the things I do and I have already put some changes into effect. I love the conversation style, it is like you are sitting here talking about what to do. We all go so fast all the time, it is nice to be able to slow down a little and think about what is being said.
excellent, I took a chance and this is very cool.

August 2nd, 2007 at 7:05 pm
I need HELP to access 30day challenge which Ihave registered with ,but IT WONT RECOGNISE my user name or my password.Furthermore Ithink I may have mistakingly installed firefox toolbar instead Internet explorer toolbar for the 30 day challenge ie:TDC.
August 2nd, 2007 at 7:30 pm
Thank you once again for the wonderful material and presentation! I have been designing sites for a few years and only been learning about marketing, promotion, etc. for about 6 months. With all I’ve read, watched, and listened to over the past 6 months, the material and presentation of it surpasses all!
All others with video-viewing problems…I found it took no time at all to download the VLC viewer (videolan.org). Others having past problems (myself included) have found this solves everything.
Off to get some food and do some more research! Wishing all a great evening.
August 2nd, 2007 at 7:32 pm
Whoops! Meant to say above that I’ve found that the material and presentation you give us here at 30DC surpasses all I’ve been exposed to over the past 6 months!
Thanks greatly again.
August 2nd, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the URL…I don’t see it, but I’ll keep looking.
And sorry to everybody for my whining. Should have just walked away from the computer first for a while.
August 2nd, 2007 at 7:50 pm
I have to agree with Quint and Kathy about the valuable info being given to us that is free! What you will learn in the next 30 days, if you put it to work will be invaluable. Why did you sign up if is interfering with your t.v.
programs, social life or whatever. This has to be treated like a business, your business and if you don’t have
time for it, then don’t. To those with dial-up or an old O/S upgrade (I had to go to windows xp, but I loved my
windows 98). Treat it like a business and you will be rewarded. Remember you are never too old to learn.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:17 pm
Wow, Day 2 and I’m already behind! But I know by the end of the night I’ll be caught up!
Let me see if I’ve got this right, Most people on here (myself included) have made little to nothing online. We’re here to learn HOW to make money. Yet there are people here who are already complaining about how the training is being delivered? So the expert is supposed to listen to the novice and change his whole style and methodology? That makes no sense to me.
Ed and Dan are noted experts in this field. They have made millions of dollars online. They don’t need to be doing this 30 Day Challenge. And they could certainly be charging an arm and a leg for a program like this. I know of people charging $5000 or more for training that does not come close to what we’ll learn here!
And if you know anything about successful online marketers, they don’t just focus on delivering the goods. Yes, they provide good, usable information. But they also share themselves and their personal stories. The best online marketers let you get to know them and parts of their lives. While some may consider this useless “fluff,” people who think that way usually miss out on too much and remain unhappy with their own lives and remain unsuccessful — or not as successful as they could be. All you complainers don’t have to be here. Nobody is forcing you to do this Ed and Dan’s way. If you don’t like this system, leave and find something else that works for you. I’m sure Ed and Dan will be happy to give you a 1000% refund!
So, Ed and Dan (and, as the song goes, that other important guy whose name I can’t remember!), THANK YOU for sharing of yourselves and your expertise! I, for one, am grateful for the opportunity to learn from those who have been where I wish to go. And I don’t mind stopping and smelling the roses along the way. Keep doing what you have been doing. I also like getting some of the WHY along with all of the HOW! And I hope to do far better than just $10. Regardless, I’m looking forward to the journey!
–Steve
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Regarding the carping about the podcasts taking too long. I am on a tight schedule too, but I REALLY like Ed’s conversational style, humor, asides, and even his digressions. Sometimes he’ll mention something in an aside that I’ll look up online later feel glad he mentioned it. I only wish I could have an Ed Dale podcast every day of the year!

August 2nd, 2007 at 9:37 pm
I like the conversational style and the content has been great so far. Putting the podcast and videos into iTunes hasn’t been a problem, although I look forward to getting them automatically.
Following Ed through the various sites has been a learning experience. If I get nothing else out of this, learning about the various web 2.0 tools has been worth it.
Thanks for what you’re doing.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:55 pm
I can’t download the videos… they say it has an initialization problem.. anyone else have this problem and how did they fix it? On a windows machine … are the videos offered in a format other than QT?
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:32 pm
Hi again every one I amenjoying the videos, anyone having trouble will probable have to download the right player to veiw these videos,I think the one I downloaded was Quicktime.wishing uuuus all the a fun time.Stanley

August 2nd, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Steve (sjsalem), I think you said it all mate…
So Ed/Dan, thanks HEAPS (!) for everything so far. It’s just Day 2 and I’ve already received more actionable info than I ever anticipated.
As for the videos not downloading “directly” via itunes, until any feed issue gets sorted out I’ve just been downloading and saving them into a 30DC folder and then opening them up from Quicktime. Of course you can then import manually into ipod/iphone (if need be).
Hasn’t missed a beat yet.
So again, Ed/Dan, you’ve got my full undivided attention for the next 29 days. And Ed, you go right ahead and take as long as you like in each video clip and audio. I’m here eagerly jotting down my notes…and I know I’m not alone
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:00 pm
I agree with Maris Kalnins. I would like to see some text accompany with videos and tunes.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:14 pm
ED and DAN…
YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!
I LOVE THIS CHALLENGE!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you SO much for everything, everything, everything you are doing.
I am going to name my next pet “Thirty DC” that is how much I love this challenge!!
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:15 pm
I tried the Video Lan Client (VLC) which you can get from videolan.org that Quint mentioned above. It rocks!!! Much better. Thank you.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:22 pm
Hi I’m Juan Marcos. I’ve owned an ecommerce site since 2004. I saw my business grow in just a few months to a million dollar business (in terms of gross sales)and saw it decline to just a fraction of that three years later. So I know how complicated the internet can be. What I find the most appealing and exciting about the challenge is the social networking sites and various tools that will be covered. Free traffic is something that is critical. So much of our earnings went to Google and Yahoo to test new markets, so market analysis and free traffic is something very critical. I am looking forward to rebuilding my business, exploring new opportunities and learning everything there is to learn. Thanks Ed for the chance to learn about Web 2.0

August 3rd, 2007 at 2:26 am
Brilliant stuff! I’ve got pages of notes, all kinds of new web places I’m poking around, and all kinds of spinoff ideas that the “intro to social networking” has given me. Thanks! I guess the only burning question that remains from day 2 is… … Should I cut my long/shaggy hair off?
August 3rd, 2007 at 3:58 am
I had trouble downloading a video too. I am unable to get Broadband where I live (out in the sticks in Queensland ! ) and have to use a very slow dial-up connection. So it would be a great help, as others have suggested, if we could have the information in text too which we can print off. If I am on the net too long my laptop freezes, among other problems, and I have to close down and restart it. With my time shortage also, text would be great and I might be able to keep up with the training better. I don’t want to get frustrated with it all and stop. I’m really looking forward to this 30 day Challenge and have ideas of what I plan to do.
Can we please have some text as well as the video ?

Niche Market Idea Generators
Today’s challenge is all about generating ideas for SEVEN, yes, SEVEN Niche Market Ideas. Information Marketing is tricky and it is great to have “backup” plans and niches in case the first one or two aren’t working!
