We shouldn’t be - Web 2.0 is powerful but seriously - we have more people joinging this challenge every day than took part in the whole of the FIRST challenge in 2005!
We are serving over a terrabyte of data each day - which is crazy.
So our super duper fancy servers have been chugging along at times, so we have tripled capacity and I have even pulled out my old Vic 20 - hey every 3.5k helps!! (Sorry for the majority of you that did not get that geek joke)
Then there is the iTunes thing… This is my fault and for those of you have known me for sometime, this level of incompetence - is completely unsurprising….
Starting in the next few hours all the training will be delivered by the feed that we got you to set up during pre-season (if you have not done this check out the set up iTunes blog posts.)
In fact if you have this all set-up you will get the training first - but dont forget to check in with the training section for any additional notes.
Speaking of Notes - We just don’t have the time to produce notes, so if there are members of the community how want to do so, thats great, but I make four key points (My legal team would call it - conditions).
We grant permission for you to do this as long as
1. People do not have to give an email address to access the notes
2. Your not advertising anything else on the page where the notes are
3. You are not allowed to sell the notes or profit from them in any way
4.You need to link back to the training page for the particular lesson and the main thirtyday challenge page. - http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com
This challenge is a pro-bono affair people are donating hundreds of thousands of dollars of services, hardware and time to make this happen. We want to make sure that same spirit is continued on. We pormised people zero, none, nada, zip “offers” or “selling”. I think thats fair and in the spirit of the challenge.
Just be reasonable - don’t be skanky and we will be cool.
On Video’s - gang these are our copyright and while they are free - we retain all rights (duh!) in other words packaging up and selling them on ebay will result in me unleashing Anil Felcher of Felcher crisis management (For once I am not joking) and you will not be able to breathe for legal trouble. I think this is fair - I have seen so many posts that have suggested that people would pay hundreds of bucks for this type of training - lucky for you it’s free but seeing someone else duped into paying for something that is free is well - beyond the pail.
OK - That should make my legal team breathe easier
Oh and for a couple of you that are hoping that I will cut out the “chit chat” and get down to the “beef” in podcasts/videos etc.

I am who I am and will teach the way I want to (which as a side note for people who want to make real money out of videos and audios - the only way to do it.). My communication training tells me that 10% of you will really have problems with my training style and given the outrageous success of this challenge - 10% is a heck of a lot of people, for you I have this message…

But if you can put up with all the “hogwash’ that is life in the Dale/Raine households - you are getting world class techniques which NO-ONE is teaching.

We have been live testing (which we always do - a lot of people don’t - but i could not sleep if we didnt) the challenge process and Rob Somerville (head of the Melbourne Lab and for his sins North Melbourne supporter) actually completed the thrityday challenge and made his first $10 bucks in three days!

In a few hours from now - you will be getting your Day Three training (this will be around 1pm Eastern time as opposed to 9am - which will be the norm) this will be very easy ( but totally vital) and then you will have the rest of the weekend to catch up.

Last night as we were going to sleep, I told my husband about just two of the differences so far with TDC compared with last year’s. I mentioned how huge it had grown in participants as a result of the viral factor, and then added, but there are sure a lot of whining, complaining people this time around! Jeff said, I hope Ed tells them to take a flying leap and I said I wasn’t worried, that you would handle it in your own way. Then I woke up to this post . . .

The scope of what is involved to do what you are doing for us (for FREE…hello people - FOR FREE) fries my brain. Let some of these whiners pay the cost of delivering just ONE Terrabyte of data and we’d never hear a peep from them again.
To those who don’t “have time” for the extra chit-chat, who can’t continue with the 30DC if there are going to be phones ringing in the background (I about fell off my chair when you shared that one!), and who want only the “beef” - take your sorry, whiney behind to your local Wendy’s. According to the old commercial, that is where the “beef” is to be found.
Yes, for many of us, it’s difficult to make the time to fit yet one more thing in our already busy days, but again, if you want what is being offered here, you’ll do it. If you don’t, you won’t. And THANK GOD you and your crew are as down to earth and personable as you are - like so many others who’ve commented before me - I LOOK FORWARD to hearing and seeing you each day now and surely will miss you come Sept. 1.
My message to all you whiners out there: “Step aside!”
Keep on being who you are, Ed. And everyone else on your team, as well. You’re all leading by example, and setting a fine one, at that. I know the only way I will ever come close to “paying you back” for all that you’re giving us is to absorb it, implement it, use it to make a buttload of money so that I too, one day, will be able to pay to deliver a terrabyte of data and PAY IT FORWARD.

Gurus are a dime a dozen - but you guys are honest and real and it comes through in all you do here - from pink thongs to guitar solos to kids singing in the background - i love it and want more of it!

I thought it was hysterically funny, especially when some guy moaned that he was far too busy for the videos and demanded the info compacted. It just tickled me pink that he claimed to have no time to listen, but had plenty to type out a good paragraph or two bigging himself up. All waffle and hogwash, basically. So ridiculous!
If people really are that rushed off their feet maybe they need this more than the rest of us - to give them a chance to work smart instead of crazy?

How can anyone complain when they’re learning for FREE what guru’s cram down our bandwidth for hundreds of hard earned dollars/pounds/euros/whatever? And then, after you get the DVD boxed set you have to wade through hours of material to make it all worth while. You’ve got to do the work to make it happen for yourself, and sometimes the guru disappears as soon as the check clears.
Yeah, I lurked about after reading some of the whining; wanted to see what your come back would be. I should have expected nothing less than shear professional integrity — exactly what you guys bring to the table. I’m grateful for that… big time!
Now, think about this. On my old Windows-based monitor Ed looks a little like Keifer Sutherland. Hmmmm…. so it’s like watching “24″ every day — only this time its “720″ — that’s 24 hours times 30 days!!! The suspense! The intrigue!!! It’s all there, except for the occasional building blowing up and somebody’s finger getting chopped off… but perhaps I speak too soon…. ;^)

I’ve learned tons from you over the years, and the fact that your a real person, who actually cares about helping people make money (which comes across as completely genuine in your videos and podcasts) makes it all that much more meaningful to all of us.

I guess I have not been affected by the whining or the background noise. Maybe I’m not reading enough of the forums to hear any whining. Maybe I live in a rose-colored-glasses world because while reading Eds post for today I had No Idea what he was talking about! lol I never noticed the background voices, I thought Ed was being Ed, so his chit chat just seemed normal (well, like he was talking to me!) and if someone talked to me with “just the facts ma’am” type of talk, well, I wouldn’t listen for long.

Ed , Dan what you guys doing is beyond compare to what other gurus are preaching out there. The complainers and so-so critics that only purpose in life is to find ways to say crap because that’s what they are. You guys already shared so much stuff that some “guru” will charge arm and leg just to deceive folks who want to make money over the internet.
And for the folks who always find ways to criticize (not even constructive), I think it would be more appropriate just kick them out of the challenge. They’re just such a waste of time and resources to be around folks who are serious of going thru the challenge.

Your pre-season material is blowing me away and I almost have my computer up to speed. (I didn’t have the latest version of Quicktime so I was hearing your videos, not seeing them. I finally have that sorted out.)
You have a great sense of humor which makes you a gifted teacher. Thanks also for allowing us newbies to catch up this weekend.

I’ve counted myself unbelievably lucky to have “stumbled upon” (what I told my husband at least a week before you told us about stumbleupon) this challenge. I cannot believe I was using the internet and browser so inefficiently, thank you so much for that - and that’s just the beginning. Thank you for being so detailed. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a video again and discovered something I missed the first time (mostly because I was too ignorant to know what you were talking about). I so wish I had found you for the first challenge.

The part I do not like about the videos and the podcasts is I sit and wallow about my boring Canadian accent. Why could my parent not have moved to Australia to raise me so I could have such a great accent???

I almost fell off my chair when someone quit because your phone rang during a video. How shortsighted! But actually, good riddance to those that would rather complain than appreciate the priceless value being offered. We don’t need that kind of energy in this group.
You are the epitome of what it means to “be yourself.” You combine professionalism, expertise, no nonsense guidelines, and humor. Because of how you put all this together, you are believable - you bolster confidence and inspire to action.
My screen name should have been Non-techie Tillie. With your great training, in the last 3 days, I’ve posted, instead of lurked, communicated in Facebook, setup up and used Stumble upon, delicious, Bloglines, etc. This alone has been absolutely priceless - but that only sets the stage for 27 more days of activity. An earthquake could try to interrupt your video, and I would stay glued to your every word.
The best part of all this is reading the posts, laughing to tears with the funny ones, and realizing what a great group of participants we have in this challenge. I believe the consensus is - “naysayers, fall into line or simply quietly close the door as you leave this outstanding group. It’s a very a simple choice with life changing consequences.

The people who criticize Ed’s conversational style in the videos and audios are not clued in to what Web 2.0 really means. It’s Ed’s show and I’ll let him explain it — which he does masterfully — when he reaches that point in the training, but I hope you get that his style is exactly what makes him so successful.
He is a role model in every sense of the word. He is also proof that you can do this and have a life too! Same for Dan and Nic — they are giving us all this, and still enjoying life. I am so impressed, and sincerely grateful to them all.

Hearing a phone ring in the background, or a child wanting a movie makes me think, ‘Thank God, this person is real.’ To stop what you’re doing to, as you said, ‘put up the shopping’ shows me a person that knows responsibility.
Your presentations, to me, are like you’re talking to a friend. To be invited into your home and family and treated like a friend, lets me know this is a person to be trusted. Thank you for this. I hope to one day meet you all.
I’m sorry if this post is too long, but I have to get this off my chest.
People seem to get ruder every day. This is sad. I can’t believe someone tries to be nice and get rudeness in return. How rude can it get for someone to try and tell a person with a gift how to present that gift. If you don’t want the gift, refuse it, don’t try and change it.
For the person who thinks someone on a team would try and steal ideas, let me say this. If you get ideas in any form, you can consider yourself copying or, as you say, stealing ideas. You were not born forming ideas. You were born learning. All ideas are formed from what you see, hear or experience.
What would make you think your ideas are superior to anyone else on a team. If, in fact. you are talking about the presentation of the idea, the same applies. If your presentation are going to be that great, you don’t need to be here anyway.
To me, the whole concept of teams, community and social networking comes down to one thing. TRUST! If you can’t trust such a small group, how in the he** are you going to trust being on the internet.(Better not put up a web site, someone might steal your idea.)
My thing is if you can’t trust four to six people, for thirty days, why would you think someone should trust you with a purchase?
For the people who don’t want to be on a team, I will say, I understand some of this. I do my best work at
3 A.M., when everything is quite and I’m all alone. But, now let’s get real! You were told this would be a team effort and, in fact, would be done with teams. Why you would not be willing to give up thirty days of your lone ranger attitude, for something given to you for free, is surprising to me.
If your job, time or responsibilities are your reason, lay it on the line when you join a team. Trust them to understand. If they don’t, find another team that will. We all have responsibilities. At some time or another, we will all have this problem. Why not try it? It’s only thirty days. You can always drop out of a team, but you can say you tried. It may surprise you.
And finally, for the person who rudely said, ‘ You are doing this to make money’. What’s your problem? For one, you are not paying for it. You are here to learn how to make money. Unless you are going to give all you ever make to a charity, why would you worry about or begrudge anyone, giving you something for nothing, the right to make money.
I hope they are making money for what I’m getting for free. And if they are, it is none of my business or yours. I, for one, would like to learn how to make money by giving something away.
Don’t look a gifted horse in the mouth, enjoy the ride.
Forgive me for such an outburst, but I just get pi**ed, when people are so rude.
I am surprised that anyone would complain about anything. The time, effort, and content of the Challenge is unbelievable and free for goodness sake.
Some people don’t get it, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

I have my family and friends from all over the world join this challenge as well and I LOOVVVEEEE your teachings and your jokes.. Just to say I’m enjoying the process enormously and truly appreciate the immense gift you are giving everyone. I work from home too, my 5 year old makes frequent appearances; I love knowing that you are a normal person with a genuine active life.
As far as I’m concerned you can present your material in any style, at any pace, on any day, in any order, with or without notes, videos, blogs, podcasts or mumerings in the shower as you like; it is all highly valuable.
I can honestly say that the approaches you teach and the methods and mindset you espouse are applicable outside the IM world too and they have made a real difference to my non-internet business already.
I found last year’s TDC materials & was determined to do this one from the start.
Keep going and don’t let the self-centered ‘you-owe-me-something’ complainers get you down!
