Conversion - The third vital piece of the Magnificent Symphony of Four Parts.
Once you have the traffic, how do you help them buy something, join your list or tweet your article?
That’s conversion.
I was thrilled to be asked by John Carlton for an Interview in his new Simple Writing System series. I was thrilled because John has taught me so much about the art of conversion.
The Interview is available to listen to here (along with some other really great talks)
By the way, if your looking for the best way to get started learning about the art of conversion. You can’t go past John’s Simple Writing System. It’s the best thing for beginners on the subject.
I would also make sure you have John’s blog in your google reader vital reads section. I aspire to write that well one day!

PS After you have checked John interviewing me. Have a listen to the Joe Sugarman Interview - there are some real gems in that one.

Write Ed? Baby steps my friend… let’s learn to spell first!
LOL Lance…we know what he means even if he can’t spell. Besides he’s circumvented it all with video…same process, different media. Oh and don’t let him tell you he can’t write a sales letter.
Did you all catch the gem in the interview about writing a sales letter instead of a business plan? As the master would say…Brilliant!

Don’t let your shortcomings spoil your aspirations. Editors and spell checkers can fix spelling, but there is nothing that can replace creativity and enthusiasm.
Hi Ed and the gang !
I don’t know where else to put it…
This is just a quick note to say that I think you guys a really special. You’re doing a wonderful thing for the IM community and have done for a few years now. I’m maybe a little too far down the way (and busy) to take part but I always follow along with how things are going and, I’ll be totally honest and say that, even after over a decade in the business, I always learn something new from you. So thank you.
Also, and more importantly, I noticed the name of your company (Marillion!) and though I never really got into them when they first came out (which is strange because I loved Gabriel!) I went out and bought “Script for a Jester’s Tear,” “Fugazi,” “Misplaced Childhood,” and “The Thieving Magpie.”
All I can say is:
now *that’s* awesomeness!
Take care, see you at a seminar soon. I’ll be the one walking past you with “He Knows, You Know” blaring from his earphones.
