Hey thats a good idea. I know most of us, especially the newbies, finds it to be rocket science.
Little bit of explainations really does good.
Thanks Ed.

Great explanation there Ed…

I use search with quotes all of the time. Plus I always put my count to 100 to find how much competition there really is. Then I go out and buy domain names of that longtail phrase and submit articles optimizing with that phrase. I also make a page on my site optimizing with that same phrase. I learned all that from bum marketing so I wouldn’t have to spend any money. When I first heard of that search technique, I was really in awe.
But if you guys are spewing out this good information so early in the TDC, I can’t wait to see all the techniques you’re going to show throughout.
Good job, keep the good info coming.

I do like having the video(s) we are supposed to watch either linked to or embedded in the blog post like this, so we don’t have to go to YouTube and try to figure it out ourselves.

The real eye-opener is when you actually do this with one of your favorite niches. I was blown away by the results! Can’t wait for day 8!!! Fantastic stuff guys — and what’s more, knowing that it absolutely works is brilliant!
August 8th, 2007 at 11:41 am
Thanks for the bonus video, Ed! It helped me a lot! You have a way with keeping things simple =)
Thanks again

Simply Brilliant Ed…
That really helped me clear up any questions I had from yesterday.
I can’t wait to see day 8 and 9…
Do you know how amazing this stuff is for newer people?
Molly Rocks!

Wow! Awesome Ed! But, it does seem a little different still from Rob’s video because he mentions going to page ten after you do your search and noticing that ALOT of pages are left out because they are repeated on the same page. Am I the only one seeing this on his video? Then, he has us look at that number as our search instead of the first BIGGER number of competing web pages. I think that is what was having alot of people confused.

WOW - what an “ahaa” moment… Now the charts in Gtrends and the bar graphs have an actual, measurable meaning. This is amazing stuff.
It also has made me have to re-evaluate my niches. I’ve been trying to compete in the major leagues. Now I know why my traffic & sales were spotty at best. What an eye opener.
Well I’m off to pick new niches… Thanks for saving me a WHOLE lot of time/effort that would have been for nada…
MARKET RESEARCH, MARKET RESEARCH, MARKET RESEARCH!!!
August 10th, 2007 at 1:55 pm
I am very much a newbie; just signed up yesterday, and no matter what I try, I have not been able to watch any of the videos. I am using an iBook G4 Mac, with Firefox as my browser. Can you tell me what I might be doing wrong? I do have Quicktime up and available, but as I have no idea what the video file names and url locations might be I do not know how to bring them into my Quicktime. When I see the area where the video should be there is a white and grey question mark.
Can you help?
Many thanks.
August 14th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
Thank you so much for that video. I was so stuck and now I feel like I understand well enough to execute. Thanks so much!
I’m behind…… but gaining speed and catching up fast!

I have a quick question for anyone who might know -
In Rob’s video when he says go to page ten after you do your search and he points out that ALOT of pages are left out…
Should we then look at that reduced number as our optimized competition instead of the first BIGGER number of competing web pages? If this is under 25,000 to 30,000, is this a viable niche?
When you run the keyword phrase through Wordtracker GTrends, I think that tool is using the larger number not the reduced one.
Is that correct? And, if so, should we ignore GTrends evaluation?
Thanks for your help,
Don
P.S. The education you guys are giving out on market research is absolutely AWESOME. Thanks.
