Thisguydoug is a self-confessed newbie to the Thirty Day Challenge….

I’ll let “thisguydoug” tell the story…

Hi all, I’m a newbie to the whole 30DC thing. I still don’t understand all the power of Twitter or even the right way to use it to my financial advantage (yet), but I thought I’d share something I found interesting.

I downloaded and installed Flock according to Ed’s videos, got the extensions, got Twhirl, started to blab a few random things on Twitter.  Here in Idaho Falls, we have a horse racetrack called Sandy Downs, where sometimes they have outdoor concerts.  Friday night on the 10PM news, they announce that rock legend Alice Cooper is going to perform at Sandy Downs on August 13 with tickets going on sale June 21.  I’m a big fan of his music and showmanship, so I Twitter something about it, not thinking much about it.

(Yeah, I’m thinking most of Twitter is comments like “I like soup” or “took a nap” or something equally brain numbing.)

Today, I tell a friend of mine at work about this upcoming Alice Cooper concert, but I can’t find this tour date listed anywhere on the Interweb to confirm it.  But my searches in Google bring up MY FREAKIN’ TWITTER ABOUT IT!!!

As of right now, 6:37PM Monday June 16 2008, if you Google “alice cooper” “sandy downs” as one search term (yeah, I put the quotes around each phrase just for my search earlier, kind of a hybrid exact search), it comes in at #1.  If I just type in the four words, alice cooper sandy downs, with no quotes, it shows up at #4 on Google.

It might have showed up sooner.  I don’t know when exactly.  But I Twittered this stupid concert comment on a Saturday, and it’s at #1 and #4 on Google two days later.

Now what if I had put an affiliate link in there to sell tickets to the concert (or something similar)?

Are you starting to see the power of this?  I sure am!

(Well, Flock me ’til I Twitter.)

Thirty Day Challenge Publicity

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Hi Challengers,

Ed here and I just got an email from Pete Williams who is head of the Thirty Day Challenge Street team!.

Check out this video he did on YouTube

Here is what he said in his email:

Hey All.

Just to summarize what I said in the video; We are looking for two groups of people to join the inaugural ‘30DC STREET TEAM’ - and yes, in true ’street-team’ style there will be baseball caps and stickers for all members.

GROUP 1: PUBLICITY HOUNDS

If you (or even a distant cousin) has any relationship with the ‘real-world’ media please get in touch with me (via 30DC [at] preneurmarketing.com)

We really want to get the word out about this years challenge through radio, print and TV all across the globe. So if you have any connections at all, please make contact… as we really want to get the video of Dan in a thong on Oprah.

GROUP 2: BOOK WORMS

Yes, it’s official - We are turning the Thirty Day Challenge into a book… and it’s going to be a real book, not an ebook… One you can touch and feel and give as a Christmas gift. The Thirty Day Challenge has grown into the biggest ‘Internet Marketing’ program held online, and we now want to make it the biggest selling ‘Internet Marketing’ book of all time.

So what we are looking for initially is anyone with connections to the publishing industry - be it a ghostwriter, editor, type-setter, printer or obviously, publisher.

We already have some irons in the fire with various publishers, but no ink has touched paper - So if you are in the book publishing game at any level please shoot me an email, (via 30DC [at] preneurmarketing.com), as we’d love to have a chat.

And for everyone else in the 30DC community, we will be after your help at various stages of the process so don’t think you got off that easy…

We will need success stories, book title ideas and we might even run a cover design contest. So stay tuned.

Thanks,

Pete Williams
(Preneur)

p.s. Oh yeah, the 30DC Auction is going to be bigger and better this year as well. Announcement soon.

Cool huh? Think you can help…send Pete an email.

Lesson 2 - Where To find Flock Options on the PC

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Lesson two is now live in the pre-season section of the site. As you know - I use a Mac (as do FIFTY PERCENT OF YOU - a stunning change from the first challenge!!). Flock for the PC works exactly the same way BUT to find the options -you need to look in the options section of the tool menu.

Everything else works exactly the same way.

Have Fun

Ed
