Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

The Day 26 Training Content page is live.

By now you will have made a decision to move forward or not in your micro niche. Today covers using Google Analytics and Market Samurai to perform further keyword research to find more semantically related keywords that you can use to publish optimized content to your blog.

GuruBob explains how finding more keywords that are relevant to your micro niche allows you to publish more content to your blog, and this in turn increases your blogs exposure to potential traffic in your micro niche. GuruBob outlines the process of researching more keywords for your micro niche using Google Analytics.

Anthony introduces two more keyword types that we can research for our micro niche, long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords. Anthony explains the concept of the ‘keyword tree’, and how the relationship between your theme keywords, category keywords, and both the long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords works.

Anthony then demostrates how to research both types of long tail keywords for your theme and category keywords using Market Samurai, with different filter and search settings.

After completing Day 26’s training, you will understand how to research the incoming keyword traffic to your blog using Google Analytics data, as well as reseaching long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords using Market Samurai.

Day 17 - 2009 30DC

The Day 17 Training Content page is live!

On Day 17 we are re-f0cussing on your WPD blog and starting to get serious about assessing your traffic stats. Ed talks you through the measuring of your stats and shows how you use the data that you’re getting to make decisions.

There are three stages to measuring your stats, looking at your traffic to your blog, looking at how many clicks on your ads you are getting, and seeing of any of those clicks are resulting in sales. Ed covers using Google Analytics to look at your traffic and answer the simple question, “Are you getting traffic to your blog or not?” If the answer is yes, then great, move on to the next step.

Ed then outlines the next stage, which is to find out if anyone is clicking on your offer or ad, or your sticky post on your blog, suggests swapping out the ads with other offers sourced through Market Samurai’s Monetization module if you are getting traffic but no clicks on your ads.

The last stage in checking your stats is a very easy one. If you’re getting clicks on your ads (at least 10% of your total traffic), and people are not buying anything, then you need to swap out your offer with one that might perform better.

Lastly, Ed demonstrates how to use the business metrics calculator inside Market Samurai’s Monetization module to analyze your stats.

Objectives For The Day - One: Using Google Analytics, you will have assessed the traffic coming to your blog. Two: Using the Wordpress Direct control panel, you will have assessed your Pretty Link click stats for the number of people clicking on your links. Three: If you’re getting traffic and clicks but no sales, you will have changed out the ad using Market Samurai’s Monetization module.

The Day 7 training content page is now live!

Hopefully by now you have your Wordpress blog up via WPD and have published on earticle.

Day 7 is all about adding a promotion for your selected Affiliate product using Market Samurai and adding Google analytics to your blog so you can track traffic and statistics going forward.

Guru Bob takes you through the simple process of adding your Google Analytics code to your blog in the admin area of Wordpress Direct. Creating a Google Analytics account and website profile was something covered in the 30DC Preseason. If you haven’t done this yet, the link to the preseason lesson is in the related resources section.

Brent explains some of the finer details involved in traditional copywriting and introduces the concept of monetization copywriting, using the Monetization module inside Market Samurai to effectively ‘drag and drop’ to create ads. This is an incredibly powerful feature which can save you a lot of time when testing your ads.

Following on from creating your ad, Anthony outlines how to create trackable links for your affiliate ads using Market Samurai and Wordpress Direct. Using the Monetization module and the Pretty Link plugin, Anthony demonstrates how you will be able to track the performance of your ads in more ways than just sales, and even trial different ads to see what performs the best.

Finally, GuruBob shows you how to put your Pretty Link URL into a post of your blog, as well linking your ad in the blog sidebar, using the Vintage Electric Guitar Blog as an example.

After completing today’s lessons your goal is to have successfully setup Google Analytics tracking on your blog, and added both a side bar ad and link in your first post using the Pretty Link plugin.

In the the Mindset Lesson With Karl today, Karl talks about fear and how it could be holding you back in your life, and discusses various techniques you can try to overcome your fears.

The really difficult steps in Week 1 of the 30DC are nearly over.
