Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

The Day 26 Training Content page is live.

By now you will have made a decision to move forward or not in your micro niche. Today covers using Google Analytics and Market Samurai to perform further keyword research to find more semantically related keywords that you can use to publish optimized content to your blog.

GuruBob explains how finding more keywords that are relevant to your micro niche allows you to publish more content to your blog, and this in turn increases your blogs exposure to potential traffic in your micro niche. GuruBob outlines the process of researching more keywords for your micro niche using Google Analytics.

Anthony introduces two more keyword types that we can research for our micro niche, long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords. Anthony explains the concept of the ‘keyword tree’, and how the relationship between your theme keywords, category keywords, and both the long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords works.

Anthony then demostrates how to research both types of long tail keywords for your theme and category keywords using Market Samurai, with different filter and search settings.

After completing Day 26’s training, you will understand how to research the incoming keyword traffic to your blog using Google Analytics data, as well as reseaching long tail derivative and semantic long tail derivative keywords using Market Samurai.

Day 12 - 2009 30DC

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Sorry for the lateness but the Day 12 Training Content page is now live.

On Day 12, a brand new module of Market Samurai is being released, one which will allow you to publish your article to your Wordpress Direct blog using Market Samurai and then submit directly to Traffic Bug. You’ll also be looking at your stats to start getting an idea of how your blog is doing.

GuruBob shows you how to analyse your traffic stats, using Google Analytics and Wordpress Direct Stats. Using Google Analytics, GuruBob outlines what to look for in the dashboard, principally being the traffic numbers and traffic sources. Also covered, is the Wordpress Direct stats page, which GuruBob breaks down to show you how it works and what to do if you had a WPD blog last year.

GuruBob also introduces and gives a brief outline a brand new tool in Market Samurai called the Stats Calculator, found in the Monetization module. The calculator will be covered further detail on another day, so all you need to know for now is that it makes it easier for you to assess the ratios of actions that are taking place in relation to your traffic.

Brent introduces the brand new Publish Content module in Market Samurai. Brent outlines the importance of having the right skill set to create and publish content manually, and then demonstrates how Market Samurai can streamline the process for you. Brent shows you a comparison of the steps involved when publishing content manually, compared to the Publish Content module which is able to automate and simplify the steps for you.

Anthony shows you how to use the Publish Content module in Market Samurai to publish an article directly to your Wordpress Direct blog. Anthony takes you through the entire process in detail, including how to tag relevant keywords in your blog post. This is done using your keyword research data from your category keywords which inspired the article, and changing the filters to produce keywords for use in the article.

And for you viewing pleasure we also have another Mindset Lesson With Karl - Today Karl talks about the key to being happy, by following a very simple principle, “stop feeling sorry for yourself”. Karl outlines how taking self-pity out of your daily thoughts can be a key to your success, both in your personal life and in your business.

By the close of Day 12 you should have familiarized yourself with the various traffic stats available to you for your Blog and have published a second article to your WPD blog this time using the new publish content module in Market Samurai.  After publishing your article, you should have also submitted the new article direct to Traffic Bug also using the new Market Samurai module.

I’m sure you’ll agree with me that Market Samurai just keeps getting better and better.

Speak to you soon,

Day 8 - 2009 30DC

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Amazing…it’s Day 8 and the Day 8 training content page is live.

We have a 30DC first for you all today as we are premiering the wonderful Traffic Bug which automates the submission of your site to various social bookmarking accounts, rss directory/aggregators, web directories and search engines.

Firstly though, Guru Bob explains how indexing and ranking works, what the difference between the two are, and why they are so important to the success of your site. Also explained is the Googlebot that goes out to websites to look for new content, how to influence the Googlebot, and what you can do in Google to see where you’re site is appearing in Google search results.

Mike from Traffic Bug introduces the service, and gives a detailed outline of what Traffic Bug is able to do for you automatically. Features of Traffic Bug include automated social bookmarking, RSS distribution, search engine submission, and directory submission. Mike then shows you how to follow the right steps to get your free Traffic Bug account created.

To demonstrate just how easy Traffic Bug is to use, Mike walks you through the steps of setting up your first site in the system, as well as entering in related URLs to your main site.

At the end of Day 8 you should have a good understanding of how ranking and indexing works, and the importance of the initial promotion of your site. You will have created your Traffic Bug account, and will have both submitted your domain URL (as a website), as well as the URL of your first blog post (as a related URL).

And for those of you that are missing a video from Karl Moore.  There are still 5 more videos to go but we will spread them out over the remainder of the 30DC.

You will be pleased to know that the ‘hardest week’ of the 30DC is over.  There is still a fair bit to do and learn but it should be much more manageable for you all from this point on.

Ed

Day 5 - 2009 30DC

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

It’s day 5 and the training content page is live!

On Day 5 we cover 2 very important topics being creating unique content and getting and hosting a domain.

Ben explains the need for unique content that is both appealing to the search engines as well as visitors to the site, and how the Find Content module in Market Samurai can find sources that meet those criteria. Ben then demonstrates how to use the Find Content module to find popular or authoritative reference material to use as a source to create your own specifically optimized content for the keyword you want to rank for.

Caro provides some sensible guidelines on the ethical use of source material, and gives overview on how to take source content from the Find Content module to create your own unique articles.

Guru Bob introduces the next stage of targeting your micro-niche, which is getting yourself a domain name. Think of the domain name as an asset, or a house, owning and hosting your domain means that you have control over it at all times. GuruBob explains ways to ensure that the domain you register has your theme keyword in it. There are a few methods to consider, like the priority preference of .com, .net, .org, and using hyphens or prefixes and suffixes. Using Domains Bot, you can search for name alternatives find.

After researching the available domains containing your theme keyword, Nez takes you the process of registering the domain name and setting up a hosting account using Hostgator.

Objectives For The Day - 1. After using the Find Content module in Market Samurai to source content (for both theme and category keywords), you should begin writing unique articles of around 300 - 400 words, with the goal of creating between 7 to 10 articles over the next week.

2. After using the Domains Bot site to identify an appropriate domain containing your theme keyword, you will have registered the domain and created a hosting account with HostGator.

An of course we have another Mindset Lesson With Karl - Today Karl talks about why you should “say yes more” and how you can use these 3 simple words to change your life. Karl encourages you to say “yes” more and see what opportunities this brings into your life.

A big day…stay focussed and you’ll get through it.

2009 30DC iTunes Content Feeds

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Hi 30DC’ers,

You have probably noticed that there are multiple ways of accessing the 30DC content this year.  We have done this deliberately to make it easier for people to choose the option that best suits their personal circumstances.

For ‘ease of use’, reliability and quality we do, however, recommend that you subscribe to one of the 30DC iTunes content feeds.  By watching the content in iTunes you are assured of the best possible quality (iTunes uses Quicktime which our videos are optimized for) and once you have subscribed to the feed, you never have to worry about downloading the content, it will automatically be delivered to you.  If you haven’t installed iTunes yet it is available as a free download here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

This year, there are three content feeds and they are:

30DC AppleTV feed:  This feed serves the SD version of the videos (960 x 540 pixels) and represents the best quality relative to file size. This is the best resolution for people wishing to watch the videos on a computer monitor or AppleTV device.

30DC iPhone Feed:  This feed serves the IP version of the videos (480 x 272 pixels) which is perfect for watching on an iPhone or for those people that want the smallest possible version (in terms of file size) of the video in a situation where bandwidth is restricted.

30DC Transcripts Feed:  This feed serves transcripts of the videos (when they become available) in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.  You may want to subscribe to this feed so you have a record of the 30DC program in document format but is also perfect for people with severe bandwidth restrictions, such as those people on dial-up internet connections.

When you click on one of the feed links above you will be re-directed to ITunes to the specific feed page where you can subscribe and begin receiving content.  It would probably be better to install iTunes first before clicking on one of the feed links.

So there you have it.  The iTunes feeds are a perfect way to get and watch our content and also to distribute it to the iPhone and/or other devices.

We sincerely hope you are enjoying the content in this years 30DC.  I certainly am.

Day 2 - 2009 30DC

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Hi Gang,

The Day 2 training content page for the 2009 30DC is now live.

It is a big day as we are beginning the process of finding our specific micro-niches using the magnificent tool that is Market Samurai.  The breakdown of videos is as follows:

Guru Bob outlines the definition of a market in terms of common needs, capacity to pay, and motivation to buy. GuruBob also explains where niches and micro-niches fit inside that market and how all of this applies to internet marketing, especially in terms of keywords.

Brent introduces the team from Market Samurai, and the software itself, as well as taking you through setting up your first project in Market Samurai, doing some basic keyword research, and how to define high traffic/low competition keywords.

Anthony breaks down the 3 step process of how to drill down from a market, to a niche, and then down into a micro niche, to find a micro niche keyword. Anthony outlines the concept first, then demonstrates the process in detail using Market Samurai. Anthony’s second video covers finding related category keywords that can be used in your new website to support your theme keyword.

Lastly, Brent explains the use of phrase match and broad match figures inside Market Samurai, why they are used in a particular way inside Market Samurai, and how this benefits you.

By the end of Day 2 you should have a good understanding of what niche and micro-niche markets are and that you can then use Market Samurai to identify quality keywords for use with those niches and have fully researched at least 3 micro-niches you identified on Day 1.

We also have another of Karl Moore’s human mind set videos this time on embracing change.

Take your time to watch and fully understand the video content.  The concepts are crucial.

Firstly, I have recorded 3 videos on Facebook showing you how to open a Facebook account, use Facebook with Seesmic Desktop and a review of some of the key features.

Guru Bob has also recorded a review of Google Analytics which you can use to track the traffic coming to your sites.  Tracking is crucial and you need to do it to learn about your niche as well as to optimise yuor site for ranking and getting more traffic.
