Hey

I think humour is allowed on the forum Alek......it will be a sad day when it isn't.

The risk with humour is that it can be misinterpreted....and it looks as if that is what happened this time. Others have used 'controversial' headlines in their forum posts to encourage views and I'm sure Ed's mate Gary did this on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, this time it appears to have been taken in a way other than you intended.

This is a pitfall of electronic communication - a huge proportion of what we say in the real world is backed up by body language but that is missing in email, forum posts etc. All we have as a substitute are some smilies...and they are not the same.

To move on to the subject of your mail. Stats are quite simply a nightmare...and not just in the internet world.

Where did the quotaton come from? 'There are lies, damned lies and statistics'?

Amazon I think is notoriously unreliable. I have deliberately tested my Amazon affiliate links - or asked friends to do so for me - and it has frequently been the case that no credit has been given. Clickbank can be quirky too.

Judy has made a generous offer - which she may regret if it turns her into our resident stats expert :-) I think it will help if you get some pointers regarding the most reliable way to assess what is happening for your sites.

And, please don't be put off from posting. I think your intentions were misunderstood ;-)
