I'm just posting an update on how I've been getting on in my quest to make money online.
I did last years challenge very late, around October / November last year. I downloaded all the videos onto my phone, and on my lunchbreak I'd watch one, or listen to a podcast, and follow up with the practical stuff on the night. I must admit I didn't stick to one a day, and sometimes I'd miss a few days out, and sometimes I'd watch a couple of vids and do no practical.
Anyway, at the end of it I put the basic principles into practice, and built a Blog. I got it to #1 for my phrase , and was very pleased after I'd made $4.80 in Amazon commissions.
Then I thought I'd extend on this and created , with the phrase 'xxxxx' which had more competition but more traffic. I kept this site going and continued building links to the two.
After a couple of months, my website became a PR3 site! and I was very surprised that with such little content it had become an authority on the subject. To be honest I hadn't made any more Amazon commissions and I was only getting a small amount of not very 'commercial' traffic, so I figured I could apply the same principals to something more lucrative.
I put my site up for sale on Digitalpoint.com, and sold it for $250!! and even though I've done absolutely nothing with for ages, its now a PR2.
Anyway, it gets way better than that...a couple of months ago I started using the same keyword research and link building methods in conjunction with some of the CPA affiliate networks, such as Copeac etc, and managed to rank in the second slot for a high competition phrase, using just blog commenting and Wordpress with the All-in-One SEO pack to get me there.
This is the good part: I made $890 in commission in 2 weeks from just the one site, one day I made $196

and thought I'd 'made it', until Google de-indexed my site.

I think it was because I'd triggered a manual review by building too many links too quickly.
Since then ( all in the last 6 weeks ), I've created 4 more sites, and they are slowly creeping up the rankings for my phrases. This month I've made $547 in commissions, averaging a sale of $30 a day. Sometimes none, sometimes 2 or three.
Anyway, I can honestly say that its due to the Thirty Day Challenge, so any of you guys that are thinking of giving up, DON'T. IF you do, what are you going to do? accept your day job for the rest of your days?
I'm obviously only at the very beginning of the long road out of my dayjob, but I can now see a real future in doing this sort of stuff, I hope that within a couple of years I'll be doing this for my 'job'. If that happens I'm going to take you for a drink Ed, if thats ok?
Don't give up, I'm not going to, ever. And if you think that this is luck, its NOT, its called a little bit of hard work. I wouldn't say its even that much like hard work either, its a damn sight easier than pulling my hair out coding PHP for a living.
And I'm not gloating, I'm posting this screenshot to serve as encouragment to anyone who is thinking about giving up, this is real, from the last two months:
A big THANK YOU to Ed and the team, you guys/girls totally ROCK!!!!
