Question Move blog from a subdomain to its own domain

Hi all,

Let me preface this by saying that I started this mess long before I had learned enough to know better ...

I have a blog at myniche.myunrelateddomain.com. I realize now that this is an awful way to have done this. I've now purchased the domain mynicheblog.com. How do I go about moving my site from the old subdomain to the new domain?

I'm not asking for the technical info on how to install my Wordpress blog on the new site and import the old content. Instead, I'm interested in your thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc. in rebuilding the traffic, page rank, backlinks, etc. that will be lost in the process. Has anyone else been through this?

I would greatly appreciate any advice you may have to share.

Thanks,
Evan

The best way to retain most of it is to have a .htacces file
with a 301 redirect on your old site that points to your new site.

Heres more about doing this that may be helpful

Hello,

Best practice will be to transfer all old site files to new one and get it working from there , .htaccess redirectly wont help much for the new domain.

thats what I feel.
