I am definitely a slow learner, but I eventually get the point. I finally got around to YouTube and I feel like such an idiot for not tapping it sooner.
Here's the thing I didn't "get" about YouTube before. YouTube is like Adwords for free! Seriously... if you're not putting up a couple of videos a week, you're missing out on the deal of the century. Here's the crazy thing... the "videos" that I make are nothing more than screen captures of my blogs and articles. I bring them up in a browser and then I summarize them. "Here's an article about the importance of blah blah blah." Plus, once I got into the swing of making videos, it really becomes a piece of cake. You can even make video slideshows from product graphics with a little bit of text on top for added interest and there you have it. It really amazed me how easy it was once I started playing with it. Two minutes of video and you're good to go. Way more fun than writing articles. In a crazy way it doesn't even matter if people watch the video! It's your "Adwords" campaign you want them to see. What I mean is that the "Description" box to your video is essentially your Adwords Advertisement and is the place you put your link. Be smart and use a keyword appropriate pretty link as you don't get to use anchor text. There is tons of information on the web about how to promote YouTube videos and it literally pays to do the research and do everything you can to get the most views. Titles are very important. I always end the videos with a "title" screen that is a repeat of my "Adwords" ad and my call to action. "You can lose 100lbs in 3 months with this unique fat burning program..." "Click on the link -> to learn more" ...or something along those lines. So don't be slow like me. Get on this bandwagon before it's too late! |

Hello,
Thanks for bringing this subject, I was wondering when u put the link does it count as a backlink? I saw alot of people putting the links in the description page and I tried it but I never got that link tho I have seen some sites that have back links for youtube, I have no clue how does it work... Thanks |

You can put your url in your profile as well, but it really isn't about backlinks. It's about getting your message in front of eye balls. YouTube is a giant search engine that gets more play than Google and you have access to those millions of eye balls for free. Believe me, I don't care if they give me a backlink or not. Hell, for the money I'm making off of them, they can say bad things about my mother if they want to.

Amen! I love Youtube for bringing traffic to my sites.
I hear many people saying they can't make a video on their niche because they are not an expert in it or it doesn't lend itself to a video but there are ways around this. For example, your niche is mobile phone stickers - I would (a) take a quick video of the stickers on my own mobile (if I have them) and (b) I would make a slideshow of mobile phone sticker pictures (either from the affiliate company if they allow you to use their product photos or from public domain photos or by spending a few dollars on buying some stock photos or by asking your friends and family if you can take pics of their mobile phone stickers). It can be done really easily using a free program (such as Windows Movie maker). Make sure you optimize your video title and description properly and put in good tags. These make a huge difference too. Lisa

Thanks. That's good information. I find the videos easier to do than the writing, but I've gotten away from videos. I need to get back on it. Thanks for giving a simple way to get them out quickly. Videos of old blog posts and products. That's nice.
Being a former musician, I like working with microphones anyway. I wish I could afford a RODE Broadcaster or a Heil PR40, but my RODE Podcaster gets the job done quite nicely. Looks like I need to fire this thing back up! Screen captures are easy. You can do them in your pajamas if you like. |

I recently figured this out too when i started a new niche just before Christmas.
I initially used it as an opportunity to practice making videos and speaking in front of a camera and innocently started posting them up on my account. Then about a week later, i started getting traffic to my page and emails from the viewers which was amazing... And what was even more amazing was that i was even getting requests by these same people to create specific types of videos related to that niche. That's when i realised the potential of just how amazing Youtube can be... The viewers were literally 'telling me' what they wanted to see as information. And as we all know, Internet Marketing is mostly about information. This is gold dust, because instead of second guessing what people want, you're effectively getting your stuff out there to the public in video form, and then allowing them to give you feedback. I would advise anyone to start making videos for their niche if they haven't done so already and to see what i mean. Before long, you will create a following of people and will receive advice on how you can improve your content, without paying a dime on advertising, research or Surveys. Something which Google Adwords will never be able to do... The only caveat about Youtube however is that it needs to be of a reasonable quality in content before you start to get noticed, which can be a bad thing in terms of traffic building. But in the long run, it forces you to become sensitive to quality and maintaining that level of quality in your niche, which is something Ed has been emphasizing about Marketing which is definitely true... Social Media is the next level... Onder, Last edited by Ondermania; 04-02-2010 at 01:35 PM. |
