Caro,
I haven't found any of the Web 2.0 items that you mentioned in your top post. However all the sites for both my keywords have hundreds of back links, not all relevant. However, for the phrase I'm leaning toward, most of the sites are about a much larger topic and only have a page or post for my keyword phrase. Some have good page ranks (1/3 to 1/2 the pr bar) but that's to the broader site rather than the page. None of the sites are specifically about my phrase and none use the phrase in the domain name. Does having links to the site, mean it's too competitive? Or is this a workable phrase? Linda P. Morton

I tried to find the SEO Toolbar in Firefox add-ons when it was first mentioned. The only thing I could find by searching Add-ons using the phrase "SEO Toolbar" was something called "Rankquest SEO Toolbar, which does not seem to have the capability of turning on the words that Ed shows in the video. Can you, Caro, or someone direct me to the SEO toolbar Ed demo'ed? It seems that we can't really find properties without it, or am I missing something? Thanks.

To simplify it - stick with the list I gave you. You will see Wikipedia for just about every search - ignore that.
An example would be "how to become a wedding planner" which is a market ED is in - so don't go there! Simple. And you will see that The Lab have optimzed that with the tumblr blog, the netscape article, there is a blog there with a post (more on that later). Now - please hear me here. And I mean this very very seriously (Caro's serious face in position) DO NOT OVER COMPLICATE THIS FOR YOURSELF! It is not difficult unless you make it so. ![]() Focus on those names I listed and leave it at that - if you are to add one more I have noticed overnight some Wikihow. And blog posts from someone is also a sign of web 2.0 activity. PLEASE Make this a simple exercise for yourself. Have fun! Caro ![]() PS: The former stickies - I take my own posts off - because I don't think it's prudent to have a first page nearly full of stickies and so I keep it current.

Hi,
I started with three phrases all meeting 80 to 100 seaches under 30k rule. All three now crashed and burned under the latest set of criteria. Either I am defeated by Web 2.0 Or pages that are SEO'ed for adense Or by shopping pages SEO'ed for selling products in the niche. If we can't compete with articles/blog posts, can't compete with pages SEO'ed for adsense, and we can't compete with pages SEO'ed for selling products, whats left? All thats left so far as I can see is minor niches that no one ever searches for "sausage making for short sighted vegatarians" perhaps. nick Last edited by Caro : 08-11-2007 at 02:06 AM. |

They weren't directly. Maybe I'm missing something. One the phrases I found was for a popular seasonal (summer time) product. The searches are good about 80 a day the pages numbers are good less than 10k. The phrase only exists becuase its a typo -- but according to Google trends widely used. Plenty of real products in the google ads. When I check the listings all (except 1, a page based on the phrase but geared to adsense no real content just links and ads) comimg from online and offline stores selling products to the niche, pages ranking at 3 or higher. Even though some of those stores offer affiliate programs (% is probaly not too great), given their page rank it seems the competion is too strong. nick |
