Default Useful Flock Extensions

Hi All,

Firstly - u don't want to install every plug-in under the sun and have your browser consuming gobs of RAM, but i thought i would start a thread with extensions that people find useful, perhaps over and above the 'bare minimum' suggested by Ed.

The 2 i have installed that i thought people mite like are:
- meetimer - tracks web usage and in particular is for time management etc - good to view and 'learn' about your behaviours if you find yourself 'randomly' surfing!
- download statusbar - cool extension that puts download status of files in a small bar down the bottom of the browser, rather than popping up a new window.

cheers,
bs

I second this plugin: download statusbar

I have the following installed:
- Google Notebook - For Research
- TDC Toolbar - For Obvious Reasons (Love the Gtrends/Wordtracker tools)
- Download StatusBar - Tidy File Downloading and Management
- Fast Video Downloader - Grab those youtube or flash videos etc
- Faster Fox - Speed Improvements
- RankChecker - SEO research (Has an issue in Flock 1.2.1 in that I cannot upgrade it to the new version)
- Search Status - SEO research
- SEO for Firefox - SEO research
- TwitterBar - Fast Tweeting (Not compatible with Flock 1.2.1 it says)

I installed CoolIris, but I found it annoying over time...

And thats it, any more and it starts to get bloated and causes a performance hit.

Cheers,

Andy

Only ones I have that haven't been mentioned here are BlueOrganizer and Scribefire

Smile Firefox/Flock extensions I have used

Ok,

Here is a list of extensions that you may find useful along with the others listed in this thread...

And I'll point out that I haven't used all of these in Flock...yet, but I do use these in my Firefox browser and since Flock is based on Firefox...the extensions should work in it as well....

AdBlock - filters ads from webpages
Better Youtube - Enhances YouTube with Greasemonkey user scripts
Bookmark Backup - Creates a backup of your bookmarks everyday
English (Australian) Dictionary - I'm sick of my favourite Colourful language being marked incorrect!
FaceBook Toolbar - Integrate your facebook life into your browser! (Flock does this now anyway!)
Fleck - Annotate and share webpages
FoxLingo - the ultimate Language tool (translates non-english pages into english or any other language you want and visa versa)
Gmail Manager - Gmail accounts manager and new mail notification
IE Tab - For those annoying pages that just will not render properly in Firefox (design your pages to be viewed in firefox/flock people!)
Nuke Anything Enhanced - Allows hiding of almost anything on a webpage via a context menu
Password Exporter - Import and Export your saved passwords
PDF Download - Allows you to choose what to do with a pdf file
SamePlace - Extensible, multi-network instant messenger
Toolbar Buttons - Add toolbar buttons to menus for quick access to browser functions rather than looking in dropdown menus
Translator - website translation extension

Bit of a list, but there you go!

Kind Regards,

TJ

You might all like to check out the Stompernet add on released recently.

It's billed as working with Firefox 3 but I have it working just fine with Flock

Most of the add-ons wouldn't download to my Vista machine until I made Flock the default browser. Being a non-guru, it took me until 3 AM to figure out the problem. Please make other non-techies aware if you can.

Hi Bob,

Sorry about that! Guess when some of us still use XP Pro, we forget about those who use Vista! At least now you have made others who use Vista aware of the problem!

Cheers,

One extension I stumbled upon today was "Fast Dial"

It allows you to set up a page of thumbnails of however many pages you want. Makes it simple to goto a number of pages, and uses a simple visual interface. Check it out:

here is a screen cap for better understanding:

Bob - Thanks for sharing this one. I can see a lot of potential for this when doing research.
