Default Easier Blogging with Flock+WordPressDirect

Hi guys

I've posted a tutorial on ***sorry no self promotional links*** on how you can blog faster and easier onto your WordPressDirect blog.

Using this method...
  • You don't need to log onto your blog each time
  • You don't need to understand HTML
  • You can blog from any page you're on!
  • If you select text on a page you're on and right-click and select "Blog This", it quotes the original site for you and even create the link. All you need to do is add your comments underneath that and WHAMMO! You're blogging 30DC style but faster than before
  • It's also easier to add in images than it is when you use WordPressDirect's upload form. No need to write "%IMAGE%" anywhere, just use it like you use MS Word (sorta )

***again no promotional links - people can find you via your friendfeed***
If you guys want, I can post the whole tutorial here but I don't wanna step on any toes, so I'd need the go-ahead of someone real important-like

PS: I'd love it if you could leave a comment on my blog. I don't get too many :P

This was great! I use Mac and love all things simple and easy. I don't know HTML or anytghing like that, but know enough to copy and paste stuff here and there.

Any tips on editing themes, uploading better themes or whatever for WPD?

I've been using Flock and blogging with it since Ed first recommended it in the pre-season, but never knew that was there! Thanks alot.

I'm surprised Ed didn't mention this. Or did he, and I wasn't listening

Thanks guys

I had fun putting this together!

Garth, I don't recommend changing your WPD theme to something that WPD themselves don't support because I think their themes have special features that standard themes might not.

However, I don't mind putting a tutorial together if there's enough demand It should be easy but it could also be dangerous to mess with WPD's stuff!

J, if Ed mentioned it, I wasn't listening either :P Could've been in the preseason stuff, which I just skimmed over seeing as I was already mostly set up for this year's challenge.

For those who don't use Flock, and use FF instead, there is the "scribefire" addon, which does the same thing.

Yup and it also works for Blogger, Drupal, Blogsome, LiveJournal, TypePad, Xanga, etc.

Basically any service (or blogging system) that supports "xmlrpc". Don't worry if you don't understand what that means, just look to see if the service you use supports it or is listed above.

Scribefire is possibly my most used addon. I use it to update 4 blogs!
