Word Press Can't Find my Site

Hi,

Not sure if this is a help forum - if not could someone point me in the right direction please! Anyway...

I've purchased a domain name from namecheap.com, and I've signed up for the "Baby" package on Host Gator. I'm trying to install this site on WordPress Direct but I can't get past step 2 of the installation process. When I click the proceed button an info box says it can't find my site. What should I do?

Hi Michael,

a couple of things.

If you tried to use /setup your site right after buying your domain name
chances are it has not propagated yet.

I don't use WPD (seen to many problems mentioned here to bother with it)
but that aside when you buy a domain name, if you don't host it where you bought
it through, than you need to point the DNS (Domain Name Server)to where you
Are going to host your site(s)
i.e., you have to point your domain name bought at namecheap to hostgator server.

This can as stated at most registars take up to 72 hours to propagate.
It usually happens well before that though.

Just a possible thought of what could be the problem.
Other than that, yet another issue to take up with the folks at WPD
