If you're using the WPD SEO-optimized themes for your blog, then you probably have the XML sitemap generator plug-in on your site. I have them installed on my blogs but I'm not sure if it's a problem with this plug-in or something else and wanted to see if anyone else was having simliar issues.
The plug-in indicates that it is rebuilding and sending the XML sitemap on a fairly regular basis, but when I check the Google Webmaster Tools to get diagnostics on my blog, it shows that out of 184 Total files, there are 92 Errors for URLs!! Something's fishy here: Either the automatic content generators provided in WPD are adding posts with unresolvable URLs (e.g., excessively complex addresses), or the XML sitemap generator plug-in is not working as expected. Is anyone else finding massive numbers of 'errors for URLS' in their Webmaster Tools report? Have you figured out how to resolve them? If so, please let me know. Thanks! |

The WordPress XML Sitemap Generator plugin by Arne Brachhold.A WordPress plugin we have been used to, that automatically creates xml sitemap for our site and pings the search engine to let it know that there is a new post published that needs to be crawled. The old plugin was mainly made for Google search engine, first because Google search engine was the first search engine to give users this feature. With the latest XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress plugin v3.0.2.1 you are able to create sitemap and ping as well Yahoo search engine, MSN search engine and Ask search engine.

Hi guys,im still a bit confused on this.I have the google xml sitemap plug in going(on by default in my wpd blog)but when i just created a google webmaster acct,it says i have not submitted a sitemap?
In the linked post caro gives this great info "Apologies for the delay as I have missed your email somehow. There is a bug with the sitemap plugin that we are aware and we are currently working to release a fix for it and instead use a different plugin. For now, we do advice to : Login to your wp-admin : http://www.yourwebsiteaddress.com/wp-admin Click Settings @ the right top bar Then Click Settings Click on Sitemap XML Then Click Rebuild Sitemap At the page there is an option to disable the auto generation of the sitemap which you need to check." However, when I am in my admin panel,it does say my sitemap was just created yesterday.I did create a manual one just now and it updated it to saying it was created today.... Is this process/plugin not submitting it to google directly or why is the google webmaster acct saying no sitemap was submitted? Givin me a headache
