Hi everyone,
I am just starting to get backlinks for a new blog, and I want to do so ethically, as they teach in 30DC. My question is about the ability to add an rss feed to my squidoo lenses. I have seen the practice of adding a feed from a popular related site to add content to your lense. However, I am concerned that adding a feed from a competing site could drive traffic away from my own. If I add the feed from my own blog to my lenses, is that acceptable, or does it seem a bit like spam? I have read other posts here that see you can get into trouble with hubpages for having too many links leading back to your site. I have not added my feed to squidoo, as they may have the same reaction. What do you think? Dan |

Hi Dan,
I tend not to place the RSS Feed from my main site into the Squidoo lens that is linking to it - it smacks of reciprocal linking. (others may have different views) What I do is create another niche page or blog on another network (hubpages, blogger.com, weebly, wordpress.com etc) and place the RSS Feed from that site into my Squidoo lens.

It's fine to put your own blog feed on to a lens, but I would recommend that you only do this if the content of your blog matches the topic of the lens.
Also, be aware that search engines can't see the RSS module, which means any links in the feed won't count as backlinks and the content won't make the lens appear 'fresh'. Only real visitors will see the RSS module.
