Keyword density IS still a factor in SEO.... the "key" is in using it strategically. There's a difference between keyword "stuffing" and strategically leveraging keyword density.

However, for 30 day challenge purposes, I would imagine that you don't have to worry about it too much. The competition is low enough that you can just plug your keyword phrase in the title tag, description meta tag, and in an H1 tag and your page will rank well.

KD becomes an issue with more competitive phrases.

I run KD checkers on my clients' sites every time simply because sometimes I don't even realize that I used a phrase over and over (like a phone number, or the name of the company) which would dilute the relevance focus of that page... I want my keyword phrase to be the most frequently occurring phrase on that page because that communicates what that page is about to the GoogleBot. I don't want another phrase accidentally occurring more often than my targeted phrase.

The other thing I could not quite understand is when you said : "It would be a relief ...", what did you mean by that and how is this related to using a keyword density tool?
What I mean is that if it's really important to use the exact phrase repeatedly in all the articles, I would go back to finding another niche that would be easier to write articles for that exact key phrase.
But as I've already bought the domain, I would be disappointed to have spent it for nothing. That's why it would be a relief.
the milk carton shop is just an example

Get creative with it... bullet points are your best friend in this case.

I had a client where I had to use "[county name] Car Insurance" over and over, and you'd be surprised how creative you can get when you need to be!

Nice informational answer, Thank you!

I understand that the key is to "strategically leveraging keyword density" like you said above in your answer, however I could not find an article nor reference nor blog that would give some ideas, method or way to do that.
I feel that this really is one of the key to outsmart heavy competitors.

The use of bullet point like you suggested could really be part of this "tutorial".
If you know of one or decide to write one, please send me a link.

I hope I can give some external links here to point michelle to some resources. If not, please remove them, thanks

there is The Ultimate Blogger Writing Guide | Copyblogger, a blog about writing for the web
and one of the old but gold Writing for the Web (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox)
jakob nielsen is an authority

you can install a Firefox plugin called senseo, it's very useful for on page optimization, and it recommends a keyword density of 5%-7%, I can't say if that's good or not, but the other tests it does are very helpful.

hope that helps

I just found this article which confirms what ehicks said.

How to Create Content That Ranks Well in Search Engines | Copyblogger

It seems keyword density is no longer as important as getting more people to link back to your articles.

I'm not affiliated with copyblogger, it's just that I happened to find those articles there!!

We haven't got to the point of dealing with keyword density, although if you have watched today's videos your brain should be working on why some of the articles/posts found by Market Samurai are considered higher authority than others. Part of that may be to do with how many times the keyword phrase appears.
