Exclamation PLEASE READ THIS: Regarding Your Choice Of Hosting Platform

*************************************
UPDATE: PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY

We want to stress that Tumblr is not the Holy Grail.

The previous thread was designed to inform you that if you see one url taken - you don't have to panic.

Robert, Ed & Dan have suggested on the Day 17 Podcast that if you see two people with a tumblr blog then choose another web 2.0 platform.

So again - THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WEB 2.0 PLATFORM

And whatever platform you choose you MUST make sure that that content is quality/valuable to the reader.

We are using Web 2.0 because - using the attractive friends analogy - these platforms gain the positive regard of Google (SERPS) in a short space of time.

Secondly - and equally as important - Web 2.0 allow people to participate on the Internet without having their own domain name, or incurring costs of their own hosting service - which is particularly important for the 30 Day Challenge, where we have a stated objective of incurring no costs through-out the Challenge.

Hi Caro,
Just want to know in your 30DC opinion what's second best to tumblr so we'll go for it.
Thanks.

There are a variety of platforms for you to choose from.

You have been exposed to two so far: Tumblr and Ezine articles.

I believe from conversing with Robert - you will be shown how to interact with some others next week.

Here is a copy and paste of some other options from the thread on Web 2.0 sites:

a) Squidoo
b) Hubpages
c) Tumblr
d) Netscape
e) Ezinearticles
f) Myspace
g) Youtube
h) Ehow
j) USfreeads
k) Zimbio

And you may want to use this strategy with a blogger blog or wordpress. Some people have reported success with those - which is great (and not the only avenue for success).

We really want to press home to you that Tumblr is NOT the Holy Grail, nor are we suggesting another is.

I believe on another thread I gave that indication - so that is a mistake on my behalf

We are suggesting to you that you:

a) Don't put your eggs in one basket with any one platform

b) That if you see two other url's/people using your keywords pick another platform for your phrase.

c) Always, ALWAYS provide quality content - so that the user has an enjoyable experience visiting your platform/site.

I believe there will be more on this subject next week

Caro

I couldn't agree more with Caro.

There are a number of ways to get to the end goal and Tumblr was just one route.

If you want to know the secret to success, read on...

Are you ready?

No I mean are you really ready ??

The secret is to post good quality content, on a variety of web 2.0 sites and then give that page lots of link love.

Yep that's it...

It's not about Tumblr or SumbleUpon or any individual tool itself... Its about the "process"

I'm using blogger, wordpress and tumblr on different phrases. Blogger was indexed first, then wordpress then tumblr, but tumblr is the highest, but the niche I'd say is the smallest. The blogger blog only had an introductary post on it when it was indexed.

What the possibility that Google will compare new site submissions to the sites that were canceled? If so, won't that affect our placement?

I think that's out then!
