"quality content" is a relative term. What we have to do is write "quality" ad copy.

Put it this way - to a regular web user searching for "free speed reading", quality content is a comprehensive website dedicated to providing comprehensive, easy-to-follow and effective instructions on learning how to speed-read, all at zero cost. That's most web users would mean by "quality content"

That is NOT compatible with the 30DC.

What we were shown at freespeedreading.tumblr.com and howtobecomeaweddingplanner.tumblr.com is not compatible with that.

Why? Because at this point in the challenge, we are trying to get people to buy downloadable info products.

So, "quality content" has a completely different meaning to US than it does to TUMBLR - because we are trying to provide the best content we can that still gets people to buy a downloadable info product - so to Tumblr, we are SPAMMERS, even if our blogs have "quality content".

Come on, let's be honest about what we're doing here, there's no shame in it. We are trying to write what is essentially advertisement copy. Tumblr decided they didn't want to host it for free, because their website is for personal mini-blogs, not advertisement copy.

It's all very well saying we shouldn't be writing advertisement copy, and that's not what we've been told to do, but when you write something with the intention of getting someone to buy something, which we are all doing, that's an advertisement.

To TUMBLR, downloadable info products on sales-letter pages is CRAP, even if they have lots of good info in them, because sales-letter pages and e-books are traditionally associated with spam. There's lots of spam trying to sell them, even if we're trying to NOT spam.

I'm not bashing the 30DC, but I wish people would be more HONEST about what we're doing. We're not providing the best content we can - of course we're not, because we're trying to get people to buy e-books! The best content we could provide would be the information in the e-books!

I don't remember that being said to be honest but logically it was in my mind that there would be a backlash somewhere with so many of us.

And please no need for the f word.

My tumblr site got suspended as well.
Then I checked the one I just opened today... no content in it yet, only registered the name. Yup, suspended! No content, only a title.
And yes, it started with howto....

I don't think so... This theory doesn't hold as they deleted stuff that did not have affiliate links.

The how-to theory doesn't hold, as they deleted stuff that didn't have neither affiliates links nor "how-to"

My theory is they're deleting all that is created in the past 2 days, but isn't

"a geek whining about his lame life"

Like tumblr blogs are ussually like.

Tumblr didn't have topical blogs before (a topic being "wedding planning", cars" or whatever)... they were strictly people writing thoughts down... i.e. whining about not having a life

Wow mine's gone too. I was about to set up number 2 there.....oh well no big deal. On to blogger or wordpress or something.

Looking at what we accomplished in such a short time, I have no doubt by monday that we'll be right back in the excitement!

Re-doing the love for everyone is the painful part

I thought we were proving traffic/conversion - sales would just be a bonus. As Ed said in his email / blog post this morning 'It's not about Tumblr'

It seems that there are, regrettably, spammers amongst us whom I suspect have abused the system and spoiled it for everyone.

However I'm not going to worry - 'It's not about Tumblr!'

I DID provide the information in the ebooks!!!

I had blogs sharing QUALITY money information on the topic, WITHOUT affiliate links or any sort of promotion of anything else... just pure VALUE...

My blogs were something I WISH I HAD read 5-6 years ago... that valuable!

That's why I said "at this point in the challenge" - I know that the end-game isn't about affiliate selling, but at this point, we ARE trying to sell affiliate e-books to prove the niche is a good one

howtobecomeaweddingplanner.tumblr.com ---> suspended
freespeedreading.tumblr.com ---> Doing just fine

I'm sure they will address this soon enough. No worries folks. Just be sure your info is backed up. And *always* be sure your stuff is backed up, regardless.
No biggie, really.

...next....

hi there!

they suspended 2 out of 3 of my blogs. One of the suspended one was listed, the other two are not.

none of them is an "how to".

All of them have good content made by me (I wrote posts one by one, as I am a journalist and I wanted to write something that was mine), with my photos, so I cannot figure any violated content policy.

All of them have amazon in-text links. The two that were suspended had an affilate banner on the right side, but that happens to many blogs.

I wrote to Tumblr in order to know why they suspended my account and asking them to reactivate its content. Hope they will at least reply.
