Default Warning email from WordPress.

I just received a warning email from WordPress because I had too many outbound links for commercial purposes.

I had one link in the posts and one link on the sidebar. According to the email it is acceptable to have one link only (either on the post or on the sidebar).

Quote:
Hi,
Your blog has one link in the sidebar to
http://locatereviews.com/xxxxxxxxx
It also has 3 posts, each of which also have that same link.

We allow 1 link to be used once for the purposes you have.
It is otherwise seen as SEO, driving traffic or for commercial use.

You will need to remove the links in the posts to comply with the Terms of Service.

I'd be grateful if you could let me know. The blog will be suspended if they are not removed.
If you have a WordPress blog as well, I suggest you make the changes. I don't know if they always email you to give you a heads up before suspending you. I'm glad they did.

It certainly is nice of them to warn you. Unlike tumblr.

Speaking of Tumblr and links, I had survived the "Tumblr Slap" for a week. My story was live and well and collecting about 15 visits per day.

On Friday, I switched my ebay affiliate link from an ebay.com url to a locatereviews.com and the very next day, I got slapped. They deleted my post and account.

Next step is to test a completely different topic and see if I can survive without using a tracking url. If not, I will write off Tumblr as a selfish hosting platform and leave them to rot.

Just some more cautionary info in case you still have a Tumblr account.

Glen.

Unfortunately I think that was precisely the mistake you made. Marco seems to have got his knickers in a twist about the thirty day challenge so using the TDC tracker was probably a big red rag to a bull.

TUMBLR have made it clear that they dont want us - so put your energy into one of the twenty hosting platforms we showed you on Day 21
