Meh, camtasia is your best bet if you are a windows user. It has worked well for me. That said, I'm switching to mac in a couple of weeks

"Hello Daiyaan"

Lets just hope that doesn't happen

To just grab a screen shot still picture I use screenhunter 5 Free version.
I did not posta link but, if you Google it you can pick a place to download from.
I use it when I need a quick pic of a Stats page.... That is how I caught 1 Admin at a network cheating the system - compared pictures. LOL!

SnagIt is not only a screen capture software, if you only want screen capture, there is no reason to pay. Use free software.

I also use Camtasia. Like it very much.

SnagIt is sooo powerful, has soooo many options, to call it "screen capture" software is to vastly underestimate what it is able to do.

I know -- I balked at getting it.

Then smoeone gave me one of his licenses in a group license.

I was hooked.

It's amazing stuff.

Capture a piece of screen, it grabs it and throws you into an editing environment where you can add all kinds of things -- arrows and circles and the like. (including with drop shadows, if you like.)

I think Techsmith may have a free trial.

Worth checking out and then deciding.

(Oh yeah -- want to do a screen capture of a menu -- just use SnagIt's timer function...)

I know the spirit of the 30 Day Challenge is to encourage free tools, or as close to free as possible during the challenge.

That said, there is no way I would of succeeded at the level I did the very first year had I not of had Camtasia.

The cool thing is, they do offer a 30 day trial. You can do a lot with it in 30 days and make up your mind if you want to purchase.

A step above Camtasia is just getting a Mac. Both of those decisions helped me accelerate my business, product creating, on the bulge in my wallet in a amazing way.
