I realise this will not effect the TDC as AWeber is a paid service, but from what I've been reading AWeber is widely regarded as the best mailing list tool going, so I thought I would post.
This is a few days old, but I just noticed this post: Aweber Announces Dramatic Price Increase Unfortunately for me I was about a month (possibly a couple of weeks) away from signing up with AWeber The new price structure now means new members will only get a list of 500 at $20 pm price before the monthly fees go up instead of 10,000! Sure they have added some cool new features which will probably benefit established marketers, but I wonder if AWeber is still the best option for new marketers still getting their feet wet?

Lynn Terry wrote a useful blog post on this topic - explaining who it would affect and why:

While I am admittedly a bit peeved at missing the opportunity to build a list of 10,000 at $20 (Ok I'll blame oil companies
), my actual question is given that I'm new and starting out, are they still the best service to go with given their new pricing structure? Or would I do better to shop around for a more attractive deal? By the way, the new pricing is now <500 $20 501 - 2,500 $29 2,501 - 5,000 $49 5,001 - 10,000 $69 10,001 - 25,000 $149 I'm guessing that's still pretty good for a quality service, but I have not looked around at other services either.

Thanks
it can be hard to judge this sort of thing when you're starting out new!

Aweber seems to be an 'oldy but a goodie'.
I have friends who went to GetResponse because of the strict double opt-in feature now on Aweber (well has been for about 9 months). I contemplated shifting as well - but it was such a momumental task and there's a risk you lose people. And at the end of the day - double opt-in simply removes tyre kickers - people who are not a serious prospect. As I did not notice any reduction in sales. I think Aweber have great customer support too. So all in all, I kinda like Aweber. And even though when I first went to double opt-in it screwed with my customer list automation & I b-tched & moaned. It forced me to be a better marketer - and offer an appealing benefit to customers to actually verify themselves as such. Caro ![]()
