Default Google Keyword Tool Change - ACTUAL # OF SEARCHES

Apologies if this is a repeat, I searched and couldn't find this reported yet. Here is a link to an article about Google's changes to their External Keyword Tool, wherein they now report actual number of searches. I don't mean to promote this web site, but they were the first ones in my Reader to report it.

Google Updates their Keyword Tool – What You Need To Know | John Cow dot Com

This could be huge. On the other hand, it could be much ado about nothing if the numbers are bad. I'm sure time will tell, and by the time we get to this part of the 30DC, Ed and Dan will have the answer.

Cheers,

Annie, are you getting Ed in your Google Reader? And on Twitter?

The man almost blew a valve last night!!

Twitter / Ed Dale: DONT GO TO BED!!! Seesmic v...

Seesmic: INCREDIBLE GOOGLE NEWS - MUST WATCH

If anyone anywhere knows what to do next, it is Team Edge!

Ed, Dan, (ok, mostly Dan),
were already in a perfect position to grasp and employ this data,
and it's implications for all of us.

They will crush the keyword research field going forward.

I have caught other 'gurus' spying on these dudes, and then
posting to their own blogs as first edition concepts.

DOH! I didn't check Tweets yet, just this forum.

What this means to me: If I just start paying attention to Ed and Dan, and block the rest of the noise, I could have been the genius to post this on MY blog this morning and waited for my ten readers to pick it up and post here.

If I had a nickel for every opportunity missed... LOL.

Better yet Annie,

The wisdom we've gained gives us the ability to make far more than nickels on the opportunities we can now recognize and embrace!

Kishan - try it again. It should work...

Ed and Annie. I watched Ed - and hold on tight to my chair. Please clear one thing for me before I fall off it:

The high numbers are exciting ONLY if we have a decent amount of competition, right?

So the good old WordTracker GTrends is still the ideal tool at this point that tells us in green lines high traffic and low competition.

Thanks all!

Gabi.

On all my keyword phrases, i get like 1000, 2000, maybe 5000 people searching.

On one of them however, I have 450,000 people searching

Don't forget that it's not just about search numbers, it's about competition too. Ed will be covering exactly how to analyse this in the 30DC (or I 99.999999% sure he will)
