The top 3 results in my matrix are all Google images:-
![]() I asked Ed about this the other night on the live show and I think he said that was a good sign. He didn't see the matrix though, which has too much red and not enough green. Did I understand Ed right? Is it really an easy one? I have no idea how on earth I am going to compete in this tough market, but I'm sure all will be revealed in time. Interesting phenomenon anyway...

That is pretty amazing!
You can dump the alexa figures straight away ... not relevant BLD is usually standard red for most sites that have a decent amount of exposure so that that with a grain of salt DA has some weight but seeing as #4 is a new site then you can muscle in there too On page stuff is all very doable Still I have no idea about how to compete against images (even though one of my niches from last year still makes money and gets ALL of its traffic from google images)

I just found the part of the recording when Ed talks about competing with google image results:-
Thirty Day Challenge TV - 2008.08.04 Episode 2 - Q and A, eddale Ustream.TV: Thirty Day Challenge TV - 2008.08.04 Episode 2 - Q and A. go to 21 minutes and 23 seconds Will Ed show how I can compete with Google images? Is this beyond the remit of the 30DC?

Just found this blog post - How to get traffic from Google Images
Interestingly it says:- "The majority of visitors arriving from Google Images won’t want to read your pages or buy any products - they are just looking for an image to use on their web page, PC or blog post." Should I pick another niche?

My product-pushing site now gets 40% of its traffic from Google image search and only 35% from Google web search. I don't have break-downs on what percentage of each then click through to Amazon or other affiliates, but for that site, it's 95% of all visitors anyways.
Have good image names and alt text. Place them high enough on the page that they're at least partially visible. Otherwise people won't even look at your page, but will just click on the image in the top frame. |

I got this on a few of my phrases but only on phrases that were related to images in some way. I now filter out any keywords with "photos", "images", "pics" etc at the keyword research stage.
I don't see the point trying to compete because as a previous poster said, somebody who wants an image, just wants an image! Once they find it they will probably use another search phrase if they want to buy something. |
