Hello Challengers!

Today you continue to build your traffic catching network by publishing a Hub Page. Hub Pages are another Web 2.0 way to build off page authority for your blog.

There is one video in Lesson 12:

The video runs about 20 minutes.

Nez,

Thank you for putting up the transcripts as those are very helpful to use during this course. I am waiting to read through those first before I go through the videos. For some reason I seem to learn faster through the transcripts.

I agree about the transcripts. I can cart them around with me and read them better than downloading the videos onto my eensy weensy MP3 player screen.

Thank You!

Hey Nez Where are the transcripts please? I cannot figure out what Caro is doing with 'code in the building a hubpage since I don't understand code and she prepared it before the demo. Can you help or can I find that in the transcripts pleasse?

Yes if you look at your site and draw a diagram, you will end up with your site being in the centre and sites linking into your site, similar to sa bicycle wheel with your site as the centre hub and Squidoo, Tumblr, Twitter etc all pointing back to your site, it will be an interesting test for any challenger to do at the end of 30DC.

The code has been supplied in the transcripts (or should have been).

BUT I had to take it all out for hubpages.

I'm not sure how much you're up to date with everything - but even since I created that video - there was a change - Hub pages unpublished the Vintage Electric Guitar Hubpage because it had too many backlinks and was overly promotional.

This has been an easy solution to fix and the Hub people are great.

Basically now you can have 1-2 backlinks to a hub page - we recommend you have ONE only (you only need to link once to your main ranking vehicle - WPD Blog).

AND

Your RSS feed has to be different - so we recommend you use the one from your Squidoo lens - to get that you go to your squidoo lens, and as Dan showed you in a video - you right click on where it says RSS and you choose 'copy link' and then you drop it into the feed portion of the hubpage.

As for the ONE link in your main area of content - there is the automatic way to create the link - which I show you on the video. Basically you click on the little chain picture and type in your url (your Main Ranking Vehicle Domain Name).

Hopefully that makes things a bit clearer for you

So - to confirm - I did NOT put in any code into the Hubpage. I choose in the video not to put in a visual of the Affiliate with the Affiliate link - which I mentioned in the video - just because I was concerned about Hub thinking I was overly promotion - which they ended up thinking anyway with my 3 links - and as above, it was an easy and seamless fix to make them happy again

Caro

Default Overly Promotional: This Hub excessively promotes another site.

Hi Caro, i'm hoping you might check back, but i can't get past the above with my hubpage. I only have 1 link in the text now, and the RSS goes to Squidoo instead of my main site, but still i get the above, and it's not published anymore. Helppppppppppppp

You need to contact Hub support and ask them what is still missing.

Generally they offer feedback at the top of the unpublished hub.

It will say:

a) Overly promotional

b) Too many links

c) Duplicate content

d) Too many tags

etc

So that is your first guide.

Then go to the help tab and then down to Hub Rules point 2 (adult content) has a content them link - so I used that as it's a general email address.

They came back to me within a few hours. Were incredibly polite and helpful - which matched the email I had sent them, asking what else did I need to do, I was genuine in my desire to provide quality content and I wasn't sure what else was needed...

Good luck!

Caro
