Unhappy can't use YouTube with Wordpress Direct

I don't know if anyone can help me, but when I try to add YouTube videos nothing happens. When I click on 'view keywords' there are no keywords, but I put them in when I installed the website. It's hosted with another company and it has the ioncube loader installed in the public_html folder. I submitted a help ticket several days ago with Worpress Direct but it was put on hold and I've never heard from them.

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!!
Jenny

Hey Jenny,
I've been trying to learn WordPress, too, after building websites for a long time using my limited knowledge of html.
I confess that I don't know what "view keywords" has to do with installing YouTube.
Very simply, when I went to install a YouTube video on my wordpress site, I had to play a little with the html, but eventually it worked. You have to take that whole string of code that you get at YouTube, and paste it into your page while in HTML mode. When you switch to Visual mode, you might not see anything. But save and publish it anyhow. When you look at the page itself, away from your editor, you might see the video. That's how it worked for me.

Note that I wrote that post before the days of WordPress 2.5 which has YouTube support. I'm not sure which version of WordPress is used by WPD (I'm just doing the WP stuff manually - control freak I know!) but if it's 2.5 or higher you don't need the plugin that I mention in that post - you just copy in the code between the <object> tags into the HTML portion of your post.

WPD is using 2.5.1, Caroline.

It should work with the embed and object tags, I suppose.

Yes - the manual YouTube embed codes work. The content software just automates the process using keywords to find the videos. But, Ed hasn't covered any of that yet.

Well I still havent been able to put youtube videos on my blog. Ive tried what was suggested in that website to no avail. Maybe i am misunderstanding what is meant by "installing" the plug in. I just put in the publichtml.

Default How to Insert You Tube Video

I did the You Tube video manually. I went directly to my wordpress blog by
(link/username/password is under 'website settings').

From there you can see both write and edit page or posts.

I found a short You Tube Video that explained how to insert the YouTube video and it worked like a charm.

Did you go over to the adminstration panel of the youtube wordpress direct yet? I had this same problem, but found that all my tags were under uncatergorized, so in the admin panel i had to update that.
