Bummer! UGH!

Ok the key is to not panic.

There are a plethora of Web 2.0 websites to choose from.

Here is a directory of them for your perusal.

Go2Web20.net - The complete Web 2.0 sites directory

And as advised previously on this thread, it is wise to write your work in a text editor and then copy and paste in. So that you do not lose it.

We did not expect this to happen. Many in the Immediate Edge community have been using Tumblr with renewed success again.

The key is to just see this as a stumble and keep moving ahead. Just like in life really - sometimes 'sh*t' happens that you really did not forsee

Best to you all

Caro

3. My actual RSS feed address - as it is not on my sidebar, how do i access it ?? I was told just to use mydomain.com/feed/atom. But in Dan's video, he just uses /feed. Does it make a difference ??

4. Getting the RSS feed addresses from the Market samurai has proved impossible - sent a ticket but they have not replied as yet.

So, pretty stuck in the mud ......

Hi Robert - I've merged your thread into this one on Tumblr - and you may want to have a scout around it

It appears Tumblr has slapped the 30DC again this year

So you may want to leave it to one side, and choose one of the other web 2.0 platforms offered in the 30DC teachings and also from here:

Go2Web20.net - The complete Web 2.0 sites directory

Default Tumblr Policy

I have today received the following email from Tumblr's tech support:

Tumblr does not allow affiliate marketing of any kind. No links in posts to sites or blogs selling your products or services.

Marc :-)

If they are going to try and apply this policy strictly, I suspect a lot of new TDC Tumblr blogs are about to disappear. BTW, this statement of "policy" appears to contradict their own published terms and conditions, which I have pointed out to Marc but whether I will get anywhere with this argument is anyone's guess.

Marnie makes an excellent point. It's very easy for tumblr to look at blog creation date and knock out all 30dc blogs. Like Caro said onto other platforms!

Can't remember who said it but it's good "Onward and Upward".

As robkat (aka Kathy) said the rticlz.com is owned and operated by my friend and fellow 30dc'er Ken Nadreau. I hadn't checked on the PR lately so being it's a PR3 maybe something for you to consider posting your content.

Kursal makes an interesting point. Not all sites are created equal and I'm sure tumblr blogs link to places like digg and mashable who sell advertising banner space. THose are most definitely commercial sites.

Arthur Sherin, links in 30dc forum (other than friendfeed) are a no no. You want to get as many quality links pointing to your site as you can.

OneofEm very smart and foward thinking to start ahead of the rush.

Finally, let's follow as the gang and Caro had mentioned in another post. Onto weebly.com where they appreciate good commercial content. That's the beauty of the web....you can always say "next!"

Default Another Way Of Saving Yourself

A few months ago, my Weebly site corrupted. I had worked very hard on it,the content, and so on... for weeks, even though it can be published in 1/2 hour.
I did have the content saved.
Since then, I print all pages of my sites.
This can be very helpful if something you know..strange should happen.

my tumbr blog from last year is still up but this years has been slapped!

crazy thing is that last years has affiliate links all over it and even a banner advert! i guess it slipped through the net as the first post didn't have any links in it. its so blatantly commercial that you couldn't mistake it for anything else!!! lol.

this year, i just set up the account without even posting anything and they slapped me. they are obviously just arbitrarily banning anyone who signs up at the moment. could it be gmail accounts that are ringing their alarm bells?

oh well. plenty of others around as Caro says.

Quick tip: if you've already posted stuff that you just wrote within your web browser, Google notes is a quick way to grab a copy you can keep and repost...
(I've just used it to 'backup' a couple of blog posts I didn't have elsewhere. Thanks for prompting me to do it!)

Wanted to check back in and see how you guys were doing. Hopefully, you've moved onto weebly and decision day. Also, hope you heeded the advice in this thread and kept a copy of your content on your hard drive and in google notebook.

I recommend doing so in both places in case your hard drive fails. It's not a question of if but when for hard drives so have a backup copy. And google notebook is easily searchable (imagine that) so you can find your stories when you need them from any computer.
