Default Create FTP account or use login created with Hostgator?

Hello anyone

I have never used Hostgator and my ftp logins have just been emailed to me without my creating them so I thought, piece of cake. I watched one of the videos at WordPressDirect with him logging into WHM (web host manager) with the link provided by HG. I didn't get that particular link with the WHM extension.

But anyway, according to the video, you're supposed to click that link, go there and click on 'account functions' and then 'create a new account' leading you to a form. As I said, I didn't get that from HG. So, I went into cpanel and ftp accounts (looked totally different than the WHM in his video) and created an ftp account....at least that's what it said I did!

But all this may be here nor there because I just watched Dan's video and it sounds to me like he says "you" will be using the username and password you created with HG...period, as you made when you sign up for HG? However, as you know there is the video showing Ed creating the WordPressDirect account and it shows the form saying ftp username and ftp password. Feel dumb, deaf & blind.

Gosh, I'm sorry, but which is it that WordPressDirect wants? The HG info or the ftp info created? I really don't want to get further behind.

Thanks very much for any help

WPDirect wants the FTP information.

What are you trying to do: ftp into your WordPressDirect (WPD) account? If so, then log into your WPD control panel (30dc.wordpressdirect.com) and under website settings is where you will find the FTP username and password. Then you can use any ftp software program to log into your site (I use fireFTP and it works with Flock). For my particular site, for the 'host' setting, I just had to enter in keyword.domain.com (no ftp before that); and then the username and password.

If you're referring to something else, then clarify and I'll try to help.

Thank you, thank you for being so fast. Now I won't have to fret about it all day at work. Very grateful....

Thanks very much for trying to help....I'm going to keep this info for later today when I create an account at WPD. bobster234 verified that it is the ftp info that WPD needed, and Not the Hgator login (which I thought was pretty dumb, but got confused by Dan's video). Thanks again.
