It was interesting to read today's pdf but it left me with a few questions.
I realise it was originally written in 2005 for something called the Underachiever method and that involved using different techniques to the 30DC. Still I'm a bit baffled by what it means for me now. It refers to quite a lot of things I've never heard of (flycatcher page etc.) but I guess they aren't relevant to us just now. 30Dc is action based, isn't it? I can't see any actions to take based on these instructions for creating a sales letter. We haven't done any of the ground work the pdf refers to. I've no way of knowing any of the information about my target market it ask us to use. I'd just be guessing. So what action should we take from it? To be honest most of what it talks about isn't relevant to my niche. Mine's not aimed at hobbyists or small business people and it's not about my target audience making money. (Hopefully it is about me making some - but we'll see!) I suppose my biggest question is: Is anyone using this sort of sales letter copy successfully in a UK market which is not based on selling a 'make money' product? Also Have I missed the point? (LOL, I do realise this is quite likely ) If so can someone explain, pretty please?

I think its mostly an introduction to the concept and so you can see how a sales letter can be constructed. It even says so on the day 24 page. =). Its even says thats its optional.
I honestly only come in contact with that type of sales letter when it concerns either make money online or sell dating material. And never seen it targeted for other than americans. |

The letter was an example to be followed but not necessarilly used as an exact tamplate. Not all of it may apply to your niche but the general outline will help you be creative in understanding more about what the niche has to offer. Sometimes we have nothing to offer for free but can expand the scope of the market to offer related products and /or services. Use what others feel is a determining factor in your niche. I personally had a tremendous dislike for those sales letters that were exceptionaly long and fluffed. Unless they had something of major interest to me I gave them 30 seconds and deleted them. Clickbank is loaded with these sales letters for affiliate programs.

Today is a rest day.
And when you go to the training section underneath the video of Ed in the Zoo (battling all those vicious wild wooden animals! ) you'll see a blurb about why you have been given it.Picture 14.jpg It's EXTRA material. And whilst it is based on writing a Sales Letter, which we are not covering off in the 30DC a lot of the principals hold true for ANY piece of copy you produce. So it can assist you to write better articles. It talks to how to write engaging headlines - relevant to your Blog posts (which you want to include your keyword phrase). Also how to write engaging, involving and relevant copy - so that the reader feels both an interest and connection. How to enhance a call to action. As ultimately with this years (and every years 30DC) we want people to click on the link to the money page and then order. So please pay attention to the principals. As opposed to allowing yourself to be confused about it not seeming apples for apples - it's not. And it's still all ripe fruit ![]() Caro

Thanks everyone for your help, and Andy Roberts too. By reading your advice and having a chat with Andy as well, I realised where I'd gone wrong.
As you say Caro it's the general principles we can use not the details. Of course I'd gone off on one and tried to follow the instructions in the pdf instead of treating it as reading material and so I'd got in a pickle. Chutney anyone? Must be all that talk of ripe fruit ![]() I really didn't pay enough attention to Ed's instructions in the video, lesson learnt I hope! Thanks for your patience all.
