How can I set up a subscription site

I have my blog getting some traffic, and I want to set it up to take subscriptions. There will be options to subscribe for the week, month, or year.

What's the best way (product, web site, etc) to keep track of who has subscribed and to grant access? Is this something that can be done with Wordpress direct or will I have to make an entirely different site that the blog just links to?

If you google how to set up subscription on blog or something to that effect you might find it. I saw youtube videos on wordpress maybe they show that also, so you could search youtube as well. Or maybe some techie person will come to the rescue. It can be done so the answer is here somewhere.
