There have been many success stories posted on the forums and elsewhere about experiences with the 30DC. There is also a book in the works that will detail success stories.

They also spring up in unlikely places... I was listening to one of Yaro Starak's podcasts about niche blogging (Podcast: How To Profit From Niche Websites By Adam Short - Part 1 - Entrepreneurs-Journey.com by Yaro Starak) and the guy credited Ed and Frank's Underachiever method for his success (30DC was originally based on Underachievers process and many of its values still hold true). I won't plug my own podcasts with a link but many of the people I have interviewed started out on the 30DC. Do a search online and in the forums and see what you find.

Don't become too hung up on finding the success stories. It makes me think of Weightwatcher's magazine - so many people buy the mag, love reading the success stories, dream about doing it themselves, but never actually get around to it!

Thanks Lisa. For the podcast and the note about the book.

I hope Ed is able to interview some of the previous participants to talk to them about what they did after the 30dc and how they got on. I am confident that many would find this very inspirational and motivating.

Default 200K annually from IM within months as a newbie

Hello,

While it is possible to make 200K annually from IM within months as a newbie, it's not the norm. For most people (90% or more) do not follow through, and the ones that do follow through will not be earning 200K within 6-12 months. Of course there are always exceptions, and basically as stated earlier in this thread it's really a matter of how successful one is a at learning/understanding their Internet Marketing niche(s) and then applying them self.

However, you wanted some proof, here's a link from a previous thread:

Default $200k?

I'd be thrilled to death with $30k
That's enough for the wife and I to live modestly, and grow from there.

Thanks MrRess for your post which helped me down from my over inflated view of self , and realize that almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.

I want to, using the internet, make a difference to this!

I have been considering my forum post and the great advice from everyone else over the weekend (no internet, tv, radio. just the beach, surf, kids and my wife), and reevaluated my own focus.

My focus for the next 2 months:
finish the challenge with a great site, which demonstrates that I can achieve traffic, top rankings and generate some new revenue (my aim: $25) in a new niche that I am passionate about. Using Kiva, I will invest all that I make with my 30dc project and empower 1 entrepreneur to lift themselves out of poverty.

Following the 30dc I will start to build my online business which will enable me to do what I love. I dont know what this will look like right now, but I am confident that the 30dc will give me the experience & tools to make it happen.

Thanks

YES! I know people who are making over $100K a year - they live right in my backyard so to speak, in Vancouver. One has reached guru status and making over $1M per year and the other is a blogger making half a mil and counting!

The interesting thing is that the millionaire guy did not make a penny his first year but was so obsessed with the idea that he did not quit. He's been raking it in for some seven years now ... but you know what, he worked v.v.v.v. hard to start with, and now gets by nicely on only 4 hours a day, 4 days a week.

I think that reaching a status of that magnitude will have both your wife and your children will be super happy :-)

Those who ask "How much can I make?" have a long journey ahead.
Those who ask "When can I start?" have packed their bags.
Those who ask "Where's my map?" are on their way.

Pack your bags and wait for the map!

Concentrate on the process and money is an unavoidable consequence.

I understand where your coming from with this question, as I often wondered this question in the past. But.. The reality is that it all comes down to you. I do understand that seeing examples of people can sometimes be a good motivator, but in reality each person is going to be different.

It comes down to whether your willing to put in the blood and sweat. It's aiming for a predetermined goal and achieving it. In a sense, people choose how long it takes them to get to $x.xx a year. - How hard are you willing to work?

I can't answer this, as I made the mistake of jumping into IM with both feet / full time. My advice to this would be schedule EVERYTHING and work in 1.5 to 2 hour blocks of time.

When I first started I was a mess. I had no schedule/organization skills. One of the hardest parts for me has been procrastination. Going from being told what to do at a job to essentially telling yourself what to do...a lot of people have a problem with this when they first start out.

I break down my projects into junks with deadlines. I go over a monthly calender and break down each task into weekly & daily assignments. I started doing this 3 months ago..most productive 90 days of my life.

Scott,

Thank you, thank you, this is probably one of the most helpful post I've ever read. I find myself in a similar position, as an out of work carpenter who probably will not be able to return and make a living it is for me a matter of survival. Thankfully my beautiful bride is willing for me to take this "college" course in IM (learning marketing through the 30 DC) so I can make a living for us.

Any additional information about scheduling and tricks you are presently using would be greatly appreciated. Are there any particular book(s) you would suggest. Seemingly my great nemesis is not staying focused and not really knowing what to do next. I am experiencing difficulty in understanding how to implement using WP and am presently enrolled with Crowd Mountain. She is quite knowledgeable and very experienced but she seems to have only one speed - fast - and I am having difficulty in understanding all that she teaches.

Imrat - regarding the question of money:
While I'm not qualified to answer your specific question, it would seem wisdom has responded and given you great feed back through the "eyes" of many who are experienced in this field.

A marketer who I study under (PotPieGirl.com) is making in the neighborhood of the numbers you speak of says something profound.

"If I am willing to spend a year doing those things most other people won't, then I can spend the rest of my life doing things most others can't."

I would only offer the advice of one whose status is iconic - Mr. Zig Zigler - "If one helps enough other people get what they want then he / she can get / have what they want." It seems his emphases was on the word "help".

I wish you great success in finding the answer to your quest.

your old scruffy carpenter friend
