Default Micro Niche Finder SOC = Market Samurai ??

MNF and MS are both great products, i'm just wondering if there are any established users who can identify what in Market Samurai does the same work as Micro Niche Finders SOC (strength of competition).

I have both and they are too hard to compare but the closest would be the SEOTCR - the ratio of the websites that contain the keyphrase in the title compared to the times the keyphrase turns up on website pages.

A low ratio indicates lower competition somewhat comparable to SOC.

My understanding of Micro Niche Finder's SOC is that takes some of the factors that Market Samurai also measures (such as how many sites are optimized for the keyword in the Title, URL and Anchor Text), assigns a score to the strength of each factor, and gives you a number.

What I really like about this system is that it's very simple - it's one measure of competition to look at (rather than having SEOC, SEOTC and the SEO Matrix in Market Samurai).

What I don't like about it (and the reason why we haven't created something similar so far in Market Samurai) is we don't know the weighting of each factor...

We can't measure how many extra links it takes to beat a site that has good on-page optimization. We can't measure how much benefit having the keyword in the URL has. And these factors can (and do) change rapidly as the search engines improve their algorithms.

But we DO know that - all things being equal - if you have more links, better quality links, better on-page optimization, an older site, a higher PageRank etc than your competitor - you will outrank them practically every time.

This is why we have the SEO Matrix in the SEO Competition module - because we believe it's the only solution that gives a good insight into the true strength of competition, by taking into account ALL known and measurable ranking factors.

As a result, we get a more accurate insight into whether or not we will be successful in our chosen niches.

And as GuruBob says - a little extra time in the keyword research stage can prevent a LOT of wasted work later on.

Thank you, right from the horse's mouth.....

I wouldn't even begin to know how to simplify the output, I'm sure you guys understand though that even to a relatively seasoned IM'er like me all those factors can start to blur together.

I also have heard from other sources out there that the intitle, inurl, and inanchor factors are what you need to get that "low hanging fruit" that the big players ignore; but how do we see those factors in MS? Is it SEOTC, SEOTCR, or some other column?

As usual I've answered my own question, you find it in the details on the websites in the SEO competition page. Lots of info to go through.

Yes - you're correct.

SEOTC = the number of sites that mention the keyword in their titles.

Inside the SEO Competition matrix, you see whether or not the top 20 sites are optimized with the keyword in the Title, Description, URL and Headings.
