Default Dominating top ten spots in google - Question

Hi, if you have a local business and you are competing against other local businesses which are bigger than you, making more money than you and you come in and take the top ten spots in google, can you expect to have some fall out from these other businesses?.

Thanks,
Cyberking

Your worst fear is fear itself.

You're worrying about retaliation and you haven't even ranked it yet ? Keep your eye on the ball... get it ranked... then see what happens afterwards ... good luck

Without unveiling my niche... I have outranked someone like Nike for a phrase like 'running shoes' ... it took me 6months to do it... and no, they have not come back ... big companies have better things to do than SEO ... they have a much larger audience and focus on much larger keywords and a much broader and more expensive marketing strategy (PPC and PPV rather than SEO)... and small businesses haven't a clue what online marketing is.

Your fear is both debilitating and unfounded... IMO ...

From a practical POV , look at your competition matrix. If they know about SEO they would already be optimized. If they are just ranking because they are the best of the worst... then you can assume, that if they knew about SEO they would have implemented it already... so if you see a lot of green for your competition matrix, you know that they haven't got a clue...and the one or two that will have some red spots on that phrase, will obviously have some marketing firm working for them...

At least that has been my experience.
