Format of blog broadcasts- HTML or text

Hi. I use aweber to blog broadcast new content on my site to my list.

At the moment, I have both an HTML template and a text one.

Most people have HTML enabled email, so get the former, however, on reflection, every email marketing campaign I've every signed up to (including TDC) uses just text emails.

Is this because they are more effective or just easier to not screw up?
