Is Wordpress Direct The Primary Tool for this Season?

Hi,

Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else - I've looked, but didnt see anything obvious.

I recently stumpled upon WPD as a tool and through the magic of hyperlinking ended up back at the 30DC which I signed up for about a year ago and never actually followed. So, here I am again...Hopefully, I'll find the time to participate this year (a toddler, a newborn and fulltime job dont leave much time for anything, but I'd definitely like to stick with it)...

Anyway, just wondering if WPD will be the preferred site creation/blogging tool for this season as well? If so, I'd like to get started understanding how to best use it etc (been reviewing some of the materials on youtube so far, but they're from '08).

Hi Carrick,

I really suggest you wait a few more weeks until 30DC 09 begins - and then we take you through the process live, step by step.

WPD is one of the tools - however we will be introducing some exciting new functions regarding that tool as part of the 30DC.

There's plenty of videos for Pre-Season to watch - and plenty more to come! I'd recommend you focus on that right now.

As Caro says better wait for it all to start as it would be unfair for anyone to say yes or no, as the only people who know are like Caro, Ed, Dan etc.

And pre-season and 30 DC all flows together, so follow along each day and all will be well.

I am similar to previous posts -

I found WP Direct to be extremely ugly and irritating when we used it last year - The SEO stuff you can do by just whipping up your own WP site is far more efficient.

They said any host with CPANEL/ LAMP would work fine and it did not, so I closed my trial account. I feel that there is nothing better than your content on your blog with your hosting. This puts you in control plus Google will love you.

Sorry WPD - It may work for some people and newbies, but just not for me.

Ditto to everyone - I cant understand why or how anyone could enjoy using Wordpress Direct. For gods sake just learn to use wordpress - probably the worlds easiest and most versatile blogging platform available... and if your argument is that beginners wont be able to cope then I humbly inform those people that perhaps this making money online gig is not for you! My concern is that you will create a site/blog that you really understand very very little about the inner workings... How To articles for wordpress are a dime a dozen on the internet... Read, Learn and Do It Yourself.... and save yourself a bunch of time in the longrun! The flexibility and ease of using Wordpress can ONLY be learnt by doing! If Im not mistaken last time I looked WP Direct has a premium user membership fee... which unlocks the features that you will find you will eventually need... The product itself is poor and the things you could have done are limited now you are using WP Direct... just go to wordpress.org and learn to use the thing for free that WP Direct charge you for. Frankly Im surprised 30DC got involved with these guys in the first place.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And for some WPD works, and I appreciate some may not care for it.

Unfortunately sometimes some feel the need to go 'heavy' and really make someone feel wrong for their choice, or their interest, in order to validate their own opinion - such as in Krusada's post.

Krusada, I absolutely respect that WPD is not for you and you are a fan of WP itself. Go for it. Enjoy!

We have found through direct, widespread experience, that WPD works for the majority and not for some. And it is the 'some' that often feel the need to post their discontent as they seek validation - a natural human desire.

Our target is newbies - so it is a wonderful 'easy to implement' tool for someone new to IM, and I know many experienced IMers, including myself, have had great success with it.

My biggest pesonal concern as an Internet Marketer is, am I making a profit?! (Traffic & conversion come before that of course ) And therefore I want tools that assist me with that desired outcome. I certainly do not think there is ever one definitive solution to any situation - and I am a fan for the most easy to interact/implement solution that still achieves the result I desire.

Well I am a beginner but found WPD made such ugly and unprofessional looking sites it had a detrimental effect on my numbers - I actually did a test using WPD and WP over 60 days and my WP sites always came up with 1/3 to 50% better numbers and conversion. I just think if your going to teach people something start at the beginning - WP is so easy and verstaile to use. I cant help but feel the crew of the 30dc are getting a cut of the WP Direct action.

On the whole I enjoyed the 30DC and found everyone really great - WPD was the only blemish on an otherwise superb 2008 30DC...

Caro - your a well respected member here - Im not trying to be 'Heavy', it is just my opinion on one very small blemish - and I dare say if more than one person found it terrible to use then possibly there might be something in that.
