Twitter--lots of followers/looks like spam?

Hi,

In preparation for the challenge i started following GuruBob, Ed Dale and Dan Raine on twitter. Next thing I knew, I had 146 followers. Most of them seem to be touting online how-to-make-money products. I don't get the impression that they're all 30-day-challenge types.

Did this happen to anyone else? Do I just let it be? Do I do something?

I don't use twitter much so I've got alot to learn. And I'm looking forward to it!

You're correct, they're bots.

I think their modus operandi is hoping you will follow them back and then they can message you with all kinds of products.

All this auto follow stuff really detracts from the great service twitter provides. For people new to twitter, it might be enough to put them off because the service is not as obvious at first as Facebook is.

You'll get a lot of crap followers.
Best to focus on who YOU want to follow
and be picky about who you follow back.

Just ignore them. Some will stop following you when you don't reciprocate and others will stick around.
