Question Question regarding Flock browser....

Hi guys,

I followed Ed's suggestion and downloaded the Flock browser. Looks very cool with all it can do.

I have however noticed that it seems to be MUUUUCH slower than my Firefox (and Explorer).

I Googled the issue and found some related posts and a couple of possible workarounds.

Before following them up, I thought I'd quickly ask the the 30DC brain-strust if anyones having (or had) some similar speed issues....and if so, how you've solved them. I'm sure there'll be some simple "teaks" that might exist.

For sake of background:

- Running a higher-end Windows XP based machine (roughly 2.5 years old)
- 2 gig ram
- Plenty of free hard disk space
- All other programs and general internet works like a dream

Thanks in advance to anyone who can in throw their 5 cents worth.

Default Nope

Cant say I am experiencing any particularr delays related to flock, I am running a dual 867 PPC4, 2Gb, Leopard without problems so far. I did notice Flock was chewing up CPU before, but a restart of flock stopped that.

Have you checked your task manage to see if it is eating up memory, etc?

You aren't running add ins are you?

also are you comparing to ffox2 or ffox 3? I would expect ffox 3 to be faster

I'm getting better performance from flock.

Try to clear out your system... Maybe there's processes running that can be shut down?

Lol, I can agree with that, my Flock browser is also running a lot slower (and boy does it take up the CPU Usage). Not exactly sure why, I guess it's all those extra features.

Lightbulb OK, think I found my solution.....

After double-checking from a couple of other sources, I have followed one of the suggested "Tweaks" I found on Google and it's improved the speed massively!

Here's what I did and I'll also include the relevant link for additional reading....

"...[1] type about:config into the address bar at the top and wait for page to load
[2] in the filter type network.http
[3] locate the strand called network.http.pipelining and double click it to change the value from false to true
[4] Do the same to network.http.proxy.pipelining
[5] Then locate network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - double click and change the value to 30 or higher (I'm using 40)
[6] Finally, close flock and load it up again..."

Did that and its working like a dream

Here's some additional reading plus some further discussion on speed related issues....

Flock Browser - Speeding Flock up | Flock

And guys who posted on the thread, many thanks for offering your suggestions and experiences with Flock.
