Here is an excerpt from a blog post I wrote on the 23rd about this...

To “see” niches you need to be hyper-aware of your surroundings. On Niche Day you are going to be a giant sponge absorbing everything that is around you, from the mundane to the out-of-the-ordinary. Let’s look at a few entries from my Niche Day yesterday

Hour 1

Mmmm warm doona

Shower - need hot water

Need breakfast, hungry

Get ready for Work

And so it goes on…very basic yeah?

Now break down the activities into items that you are using

doona, duvet, sheets, pillows, wardrobe, carpet, dressing gown, slippers, pyjamas, nightie, chest of drawers

hot water heater, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, exfoliate, shower head, tiles, steam, soap scum

breakfast foods, diet, carbohydrates, balanced diet, fruit, coffee, tea, milk

hairstyle, hair dryer, makeup, jewellry, corporate clothing, work shoes, dry cleaning, laptop bag, cell phone…..

And it goes on. A whole lot of things that your eyes normally travel over, but don’t really notice .

Easy hey? Give it a go

Well thanks to all your advice I've gained another 20 or 30 ideas in my little diary... I just put on my favorite CD (Styx's "Kilroy Was Here") and let my brain go nuts for 15 minutes and wrote down every noun or noun phrase that came to mind...

After that was done I put my pen and paper down and went to bed... Thanks again to all the helpful advice and now it's back to waiting for the next video to come out.

I woke up last night - middle of the night - and had a steam of conciousness. Just grabbed a pen and the back of a pill box and wrote down 15 or so ideas. Then turned over and went back to sleep. Amazingly it all made sense in the cold light of morning, except when I wrote kangaroos, not sure where that came from, but doesn't matter. Now I have a list - the editing comes later.

Lisa

P.S. Keep a pen and notebook by the bed - pill boxes are not ideal but close enough to the back of a napkin I suppose.

Default Have I missed Something here Guys

Hi Guys,

I have not seen anything in the videos about coming up with 10 product ideas.

Maybe i have been too busy with showing my 8 year old daughter the ins and outs of the challenge.

ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE COMING UP WITH THESE IDEAS NOW!!!

I presume we need to get them down ready for August 1st???

All the best

Richard

Hi Richard,
In last Sundays Ustream Live show Ed talked about getting 10 ideas listed on paper.

If you missed the live shows they are at 8pm EDT. Here is the link. Thirty Day Challenge 08

Hope that may help.

Thumbs up Thanks Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,

Thanks for that link, It is a bit tough to watch the live shows because they are screened at 2am in the morning here in Poland.

However that's no excuse to not watch the recordings.

I'll make sure i keep tabs on them. Thanks for the heads up.

Richard

Default Unable to get to uStream

Thanks, Sheryl for the link to the uStream archive, but they simply don't work for me.

I know that Ed likes to complain about the appalling speed of Australian internet connections, but if he saw what passes for 'broadband' five hours north of Melbourne, he'd be happier with what he has.

Is there some other way to get access to the live tv stuff?

The recordings are posted on both UStream and YouTube to watch after the event.
