This is probably old news for the vets among us but may be handy for some folks.
When you want to generate the occasional backlink (and don't we all?) via Yahoo answers locating questions for your niche can be tedious. If you do the search on the keywords that you are using and tweak it via the advanced options to pick up only Open questions where the best answer has not been chosen over the last seven day you get a nice little list from which you can pick and choose. To save the effort of going through that process again and again you can pick up a feed for that search and dump it into google reader. Don't grab the feed from the address bar - that will give you all open questions and you will drown! Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find an RSS chicklet that gives you the feed you want - add to your feeder, filter into a suitable folder and then all you have to do is scroll through when you have a few minutes to spare (!!!!) and answer a question or two.

That's great advice. Thanks.

This is a great idea for targeted traffic from Yahoo Answers...
But I dont think it works for backlinks. I think all of the links get automatically "no follow" tags, which means that the search engines won't pay attention to them. Joel

That is fantastic info about yahoo answers. I just went and set it up for 1 keyword from my blog. I am about to spend the next week or so proving that I know everything needed for record labels.
Granted at this time I know little to nothing about it but that is O.K. I know the communities to get quick answers from where they do know. |
