Default Hi Heather, Hi Mark

Hi Heather

You missed a great Skype meeting today. The kids surprised me though - they were very quiet. We oldies made the best of it. I reckon that in a few more weeks we won't be able to get a word in!

As Stephen and Steve started the group I think they need to decide whether or not to accept more members - but I'm happy with the idea of Nic, Scout and yourself joining us if anyone is listening, reading, or twittering etc.

Mark, I had never heard of Club Penguin. I asked my son about it and when I got to the website I could immediately understand why she's addicted. I'm thinking of defecting to the penguins myself lol, it looks like fantastic fun. I don't think it will cure the addiction, but maybe it will give a competing one!

I need to set them up on skype as well, plus get them caught up on the preseason videos.

I'm hoping to set up a forum called TDC Kid Talk to make it easy for the kids to find it.

I would love it if y'all have room for 2 more to include Nic and Scout on your team.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Mark,

I think it would be so awesome if she were to join. I'm 14 and I think that it would be a good experience for her. I know where shes coming from, about being addicted to a site all the time. Lolz

If she decides to join, be sure and tell her if she needs any help I will be more then willing to help out as much as I can.

Have a good day.

Peace & Love,
Cait Hagar

Default Kids in the Thirty Day Challenge

Hello All!
I am writing this so you can be an informed parent. This is not meant to scare or deter anyone from allowing their child online!

Today when Cait got online she noticed that she had a new follower on Twitter – their name was ‘Top_Porn_Sites’. She just told me & ask how she could delete them. We found the way to block them & did so promptly.
Of course as mom, I went & looked at them. They are posting links to buy porn for the most part.

What I want to really hit here is that yes, there are scum on line. Yet, there maybe scum in your own back yard – they are a fact of life.

As a parent I do not think that you should shelter your kids from participating on line in the 30DC or in a business.
You just need to educate your kids about the warning signs of what could be a potential danger. Just like you do about dangerous people in your hometown.

The more you share with your kids the better prepared they are when something does come up.

Teach them to be aware not terrified.
Give them on line life skills just as you would off line.
Teach them to Google up those names & email addresses of people that contact them.

Kids can be a success online. The 30 Day Challenge is full of great people with great ideas. I encourage you to sit with your kids & help them open the doors to this great new world!

Cait’s business cards say – Kids Rockin’ the Business World – watch out they may be putting a hurt on us old folks!

You and Nic and Scout are more than welcome - we've got room.

Stephen and I were off the computer for a couple of days - family fun time offline. But we're back in action tonight - We'll be updating our signature files and replying back to everyone.

In the meantime, we're planning another Skype call for the same time this coming Saturday morning. 9AM our local time which is GMT -7. We look forward to speaking with you all then.

Take care, -Steve

Hi Mark,

It might help . . .

I can't promise anything though.

You're both welcome to join us - we're going to have another Skype call this Saturday at 9AM our local time. That's GMT -7 (says Dad)

If nothing else - maybe she'll take a break from Club Penquin

Ditto Cait - we need more kids. Maybe we can turn it into a kids vs. parents thing - see who can make their $10 first -

Well put Sheyl - great advice. It's one of the reasons Stephen and I are doing this together. For now, his online activity is monitored 100%. In time, we'll ease up - once he has a chance to develop the online skill set he'll need to recognize danger signs and know what to do - with or without supervision.

I'm sorry that happened to Cait - but she's lucky to have vigilant parents. Thanks again for sharing your advice - great talking to you all on Saturday, by the way.

Speak soon - Steve

I have been trying to talk my kids into giving the challenge a try. I wish they would! Hope that the Stephens rock!

Mindy,
If it helps you can show your kids Cait's FaceBook & Twitter. It might let them see that you do not have to be an adult.

I am not sure if any of the other kids have their pages set up but, if they do I hope they post here or in their sig line.
