Default Need Help With Your Tagline?

There was a really great post on another thread about taglines - I thought I should share the link to that thread here. I found it to be very helpful...something I'd never given much thought to...

Here's the link to that thread: Tagline Clinic

Thanks Steve!
It seems as if CopyBlogger is down at the moment but, I will keep checking back.

Head lines are a very hot topic right now. I attended a webinar 2 days ago that the speaker was big on TagLines. I can usually do pretty well on them but, I always look for the little things that I missed.

I think that people that do allot of Google (yahoo, msnlive...) searches seem to have a better grasp on what to use as a headline. It's understanding what word or phrases people will type in.

If you also have a stats page in your blog that tells you what search term was used to get to your post, and from which SE, that also helps. I watch those and see where my post ranked and then look at alternative words I could or should have used to do better.

I was out doing my blog commenting (and looking for new blogs) tonight when this came through my Twitter (from kellymccausey). It's a very simple set of tips for blogging that you may want to look over and see if you pick up any ideas. The Pocket Sized Guide To Blogging

Ok, back out to do some more reading to stimulate my brain.

Default Good Skype Call Last Saturday...

Just wanted to thank you guys for the Skype call this past Saturday. Let's still plan to do it again at the same time this coming Saturday...GMT -7.

Thanks for the link to that blogging guide Sheryl - going to check that out now.

Regarding that "tagline clinic" - I did end up altering the title and tagline of my thirty day challenge blog. Let me know what you think...

I was also able to find a social bookmarking tool to use at the end of each post. I'll write up a quick post about it there and put it in the "tips" category.

Take care,

I've just had a few mins to update with the posts (so little time these days - I wonder why). I'm experimenting with taglines, no doubt mine will change many times in the future.

I had a look at the Pocket Sized Guide to Blogging Sheryl. It looks so good that I've saved it to my bookmarks (there must be at least 100 sites I have to go return to!

I've sidetracked a little this week. I'm trying to learn more about security. I found a great site where you learn about security by learning about hacking. They have lots of missions for you to try out to test your skills. I'm learning fast and I'll give a quick overview at our next meeting if anyone is interested.

Default Hacking....and Helping....

Hey Julie - I'd be into hearing a little bit about what you're learning about security, you little hacker...

On another note, I was reading through this thread on the forums a few minutes ago. It's fascinating - I'm not sure if there's a way for us to help out it sounds like they've already got it handled - maybe some social bookmarking. Maybe we could at least offer that up as a small way to help out.

In the meantime, there is some very actionable content laid out there that would be worth reviewing. I learned some stuff about my Paypal set-up that I'd never figured out on my own.

That thread is here

I think it might be neat to read through it between now and Saturday's Skype call, see if there's a way for us to offer some help - and also see if we can learn something and stimulate additional discussion.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to point something out that you may not have thought about or noticed.

If you go to the article "Pocket Sized Guide to Blogging" Scroll down all the way to the end of the Comment section - there you will find a link to this thread!
She has placed a tracker for her links and when you are sending her readers by posting the link to her article - she is giving you a chance to also pick up a few looks.

Remember that sharing links to other peoples information can not only help your readers find what they need but, may just help you get a few new ones yourself.

Just thought I would share that!

Default Cool tip sheryl...

I didn't know that about her blog linking back to this thread, that's a pretty cool trick. I had noticed something like that on blog I commented on a week or so ago. I would imagine we'll be learning a thing or two about blog commenting somewhere in this year's challenge...

By the way - I did add a picture of Stephen and myself to our blog...And updated it to include the Thirty Day Challenge TV episodes.

I have one more set of Friendfeed notes to get up - then I think I might make a summary of the "Best of the Ed Dale Mankini Sites"

What do you think?

Stephen,

It's awesome you and your dad are teaming up. I first started with entreprenuerial efforts when I was 13 and saw 'Think and Grow RIch' book on my grandad's bookshelf.

Last year I was on the kid's team even though I'm no longer technically a kid...though my mom would say I still am. It's great to have perspective of being young and unaffected by years of conditioning.

Way to go on taking the leadership position and organizing a team.

Elferkid, glad to see you stepping up to the challenge as well. You guy are going to be light years ahead of your classmates.

1 tip. Eben Pagan (guru who makes $20 mil per year) mentioned TagCloud as a tool he used when coming up with headlines, taglines and titles. You can post something in and see what other users 'tag' it as. This is most likely how they'd search it.

Obviously, you use the most popular one to reach the most people. I just checked and it's undergoing a makeover but keep that link in your del.icio.us account. Come back and check on it later because it's a cool research tool.
